Sun International Media Release 02 December 2013 LYNN COMPLETES NEDBANK GOLF CHALLENGE FIELD English professional David Lynn is the last player to complete the 30-man field for the Nedbank Golf Challenge, which tees off at the Gary Player Country Club at Sun City this Thursday. The field was finalised after the Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek. The tournament was won by Charl Schwartzel, who had already qualified for the Nedbank Golf Challenge. As a result the final spot in the tournament was drawn from the Official World Rankings, with Lynn ranked 44th in the world. Lynn will make his debut in the $6.5 million Nedbank Golf Challenge as one of the European Tour’s most consistent performers, and a campaigner on the PGA Tour this year. Lynn turned professional in 1995 and claimed his first victory in the 1997 Danish Open on the Challenge Tour. That saw him graduate to the European Tour, and his first European Tour victory came in the 2004 KLM Open. He ended a nine-year title drought this year when he won the Portugal Masters, beating South Africa’s Justin Walters by a single stroke. His best finish on the European Tour Race to Dubai of 18th came in 2012, and it also marked his 13th consecutive season that Lynn had finished within the top 90 on the Race to Dubai. Last year Lynn finished second behind Rory McIlroy in the 2012 PGA Championship, and his prize money was enough to secure him playing privileges on the PGA Tour this year. He came close to a maiden victory there when he was beaten in a playoff for the Wells Fargo Championship by American Derek Ernst. “We’re delighted to have finalised our field and welcome David to his first Nedbank Golf Challenge.
