Switching to/from interchange connections with other rail carriers

We provide switching services for pick-up and delivery of railcars The other rail carrier provides you with the linehaul service, and between your facility and interchange locations where we provide compensates us for our switching services. However, for any of connection to another rail carrier. the additional services detailed below that we are requested to perform, certain fees are assessed.

Connecting Rail Carrier Interchange When insufficient information is provided to CN to properly continue the movement of a railcar received in interchange, we will assess the following fees to the connecting carrier.

CARRIER: INTERMEDIATE CARRIER’S SWITCH CHARGE Item 2000 Except as otherwise provided, when the interchange between CN and the linehaul carrier is effected by an intermediate carrier, applicable tariff charges assessed by the intermediate carrier for the switch movement of a loaded freight car from or to the connecting linehaul carrier or for the return of an empty car to the linehaul carrier will be in addition to the CN Reciprocal Switching Charge.

CARRIER: INTERMEDIATE ERROR MOVEMENTS Item 3000 Interchange error If we receive loaded or empty cars in error or without forwarding instructions from the delivering carrier, the $520 per car (UP only) cars will be returned to the delivering carrier or forwarded to the correct connecting carrier within the same $500 per car (IORY Only) switching district. $435 per car (all other rail carriers) When railcars received in interchange are returned for mechanical or safety reasons, CN will assess the same Responsibility: delivering carrier charge as an interchange error movement.

Cars delivered without shipper information Cars delivered by a switch carrier for a subsequent revenue move with CN, either in connection with a switch $100 per car or when CN is the delivering carrier, must be accompanied by supporting shipper information. plus $20 for each 24-hour period If cars are delivered without this documentation, fees will be applied beginning two hours following the request for documentation to the delivering carrier, and continue until the documentation is received. Responsibility: delivering carrier

SWITCHING – OPEN INDUSTRIES ITEM 5040-5930

The switching rates listed under CN 9001-US are not applicable on shipments of dimensional loads, dangerous/hazardous materials or TIH/PIH shipments. CN requires a full Bill of Lading (EDI 404, EDI 417, or Shipping Instructions from CN’s eBusiness site) for such movements with CN showing in the routing.
