OFFICIAL GAMEDAY PROGRAM PAGE 7 Continued from Page 5 It’s the seventh time that Kirk has represented his country. He has twice been a member of Great Britain’s Under-18 and Under-20 squads, and last year was named to the Division IA World Championship team that won gold and a promotion to the top division for the 2019 tournament.

After a handful of warm-up matches preceding this year’s Under-20 event, Kirk was named captain of the 22-man roster. It’s the third time that Kirk has captained a Great Britain team, having earned the role for the 2017 and 2018 IIHF Under-18 Division IIA World Championships.

Kirk expressed his excitement at the opportunity to The Star newspaper in Sheffield.

“It’s a huge honour to be named the captain, it’s a responsibility that I enjoy having and embrace,” he said. “We have so many leaders throughout the team and I’m confident we will have success this year.” Continued on Page 13 PAGE 8 OFFICIAL GAMEDAY PROGRAM peterborough petes sarnia sting FORWARDS FORWARDS # NAME POS. “We have one of the best teams I’ve played on at GB juniors,” he added. “I believe we have so much depth throughout the team and our offence should lead the tournament.”

His prediction wasn’t wrong. As of noon on Thursday, he leads the championship with 5 goals, 7 assists, and 12 points in 4 games, approaching his 7 goal, 7 assist, and 14 point totals from last year’s tournament with 1 game left to play. There are 3 Brits in the top 6 of scoring, and 6 in the top 9.

Great Britain sits in 4th spot of 6 teams with a 2-2 record. They defeated Korea 13-1 and Romania 4-2, but fell 6-4 to Lithuania and 5-2 to host and tournament leaders Estonia. In Thursday’s game against Romania, Kirk’s 4 points moved into into a tie for 3rd place in the all-time Great Britain Under-20 record books with 30 points.

Kirk is expected to be back in the lineup for the Petes when they host the saginaw Spirit on Thursday, January 24 at 7:05pm. OFFICIAL GAMEDAY PROGRAM PAGE 13 POINTS POINTS BY ROOKIES PLAYER TEAM GP G A PTS PLAYER TEAM GP G A PTS
