Krueger expressed excitement for the challenge ahead and the privilege of coaching a franchise that was held in high regard by friends and former colleagues, including Miroslav Satan and Uwe Krupp. Yet, Krueger wasn't interested in focusing on the past, specifically why the Sabres' playoff drought reached a National Hockey League-worst eight seasons.

  • Turnbull Hockey Pool For
Turnbull Hockey Pool for Each year, Turnbull students participate in several fundraising initiatives, which we promote as a way to develop a sense of community, leadership and social responsibility within the students. Last year's grade 7 and 8 students put forth a great deal of effort campaigning friends and family members to join Turnbull's annual NHL hockey pool, raising a total of $1750 for a charity of their choice (the United Way). This year's group has decided to run the hockey pool for the benefit of Help Lesotho, an international development organization working in the AIDS-ravaged country of Lesotho in southern Africa. From www.helplesotho.org "Help Lesotho’s programs foster hope and motivation in those who are most in need: orphans, vulnerable children, at-risk youth and grandmothers. Our work targets root causes and community priorities, including literacy, youth leadership training, school twinning, child sponsorship and gender programming. Help Lesotho is an effective, sustainable organization that is working at the grass-roots level to support the next generation of leaders in Lesotho." Your participation in this year's NHL hockey pool is very much appreciated. We believe it will provide students and their friends and families an opportunity to have fun together while giving back to their community by raising awareness and funds for a great cause. Prizes: > Grand Prize awarded to contestant whose team accumulates the most points over the regular NHL season = 10" Samsung Galaxy Tablet > Monthly Prizes awarded to the contestants whose teams accumulate the most points over each designated period (see website) = Two Movie Passes How it Works: > Everyone in the community is welcome to join in on the fun.

  • COLORADO AVALANCHE VS. MIGHTY DUCKS of ANAHEIM Special Teams Avs’ Best Bet by ADRIAN DATER | the DENVER POST
8D The Denver Post g Friday, May 5, 2006 AVALANCHE COLORADO AVALANCHE VS. MIGHTY DUCKS OF ANAHEIM Special teams Avs’ best bet BY ADRIAN DATER | THE DENVER POST The Avalanche gets the edge in almost every category here, so it’ll be a blowout, right? Wrong. The Ducks showed they are a formidable team in knocking off Northwest Division champion Calgary in the first round. They also have the home-ice advantage in the series. But we saw how much home ice was worth to Western teams in the first round — zip. The Avs look a little deeper and a little more talented overall than the Mighty Ducks. It’ll be a close series, but the bet here is the Avs will find a way to win again. PREDICTION: AVALANCHE IN SIX GAMES THE AVS ADVANTAGE OFFENSE THE DUCKS Who would have believed the Avalanche of and balanced Mighty Ducks, Colorado needs 2006 would be a more potent offensive team another good series from usual suspects Joe than the one of 2003-04 that included Peter Sakic, Milan Hejduk and — maybe even more Forsberg, Paul Kariya and Teemu Selanne? than in the first round — Alex Tanguay. Alex Tanguay The new NHL rules are partly responsible The Ducks are led by, surprise, surprise: Jeff Vinnick for that, but these Avs are a deeper, more Selanne. The friendly Finn was awful for the Getty Images balanced offensive team than that so-called Avs in his one season here, but surgery to his “superstar” team. The addition of Steve knee helped him regain his speed.
