Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees Daryl Hall and John Oates at Hard Rock Live Hollywood, Fla Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Daryl Hall and John Oates at Hard Rock Live Hollywood, Fla. – Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Daryl Hall and John Oates come to Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Saturday, Nov. 28, at 8 p.m. Tickets go on sale Friday, Aug. 7, at 10 a.m. Fans will have access to presale tickets beginning Thursday, Aug. 6 at 10 a.m. through Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood’s Facebook and Twitter pages. Signed to Atlantic by Ahmet Ertegun in the ‘70s, Daryl Hall & John Oates have sold more albums than any other duo in music history. Their 1973 debut album, “Abandoned Luncheonette,” produced by Arif Mardin, yielded the Top 10 single, “She’s Gone,” which also went to No. 1 on the R&B charts when it was covered by Taveras. The duo recorded one more album with Atlantic, “War Babies,” (produced by Todd Rundgren) before they left and promptly signed to RCA. Their tenure at RCA would catapult the duo to international superstardom. From the’70s to ’80s, the duo would score six No. 1 singles including “Rich Girl,” “Kiss on My List,” “Private Eyes,” “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do),” “Maneater” and “Out of Touch” from their six consecutive multi- platinum albums including “Bigger Than Both of Us” (1976), “Voices” (1980), “Private Eyes” (1981), “H2O” (1982), “Rock N Soul, Part I” (1983) and “Big Bam Boom” (1984). The era would also produce an additional five Top 10 singles, “Sara Smile,” “One on One,” “You Make My Dreams,” “Say It Isn’t So” and “Method of Modern Love.” In 1987, the R.I.A.A. recognized Hall and Oates as the No. 1 selling duo in music history, a record they still hold today. On May 20, 2008, the duo was honored with the Icon Award during BMI’s 56th Annual Pop Awards. The award has previously gone to the Bee Gees, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Paul Simon, Brian Wilson, Willie Nelson, James Brown, Ray Davies, Carlos Santana and Dolly Parton. In 2014, Hall and Oates were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Hall and Oates released their first new concert video in seven years: “Daryl Hall and John Oates: Live in Dublin” in March 2015. Hall’s latest project multi-award-winning monthly Web series and Palladia TV show “Live from Daryl’s House” airs weekly on the Palladia channel every Thursday at 11 p.m. EST. Hall opened restaurant and music club Daryl’s House in Pawling, New York, in 2014. In the second half of the 1970s, Brian Eno, Larry Fast, Mickey Hart, Stomu Yamashta and many other musicians blurred the lines between rock and avantgarde. Brian Eno (34), ex-keyboardist for Roxy Music, changed the course of rock music at least three times. The experiment of fusing pop and electronics on Taking Tiger Mountain By Strategy (sep 1974 - nov 1974) changed the very notion of what a "pop song" is. Eno took cheap melodies (the kind that are used at the music-hall, on television commercials, by nursery rhymes) and added a strong rhythmic base and counterpoint of synthesizer. The result was similar to the novelty numbers and the "bubblegum" music of the early 1960s, but it had the charisma of sheer post-modernist genius. Eno had invented meta-pop music: avantgarde music that employs elements of pop music. He continued the experiment on Another Green World (aug 1975 - sep 1975), but then changed its perspective on Before And After Science (? 1977 - dec 1977). Here Eno's catchy ditties acquired a sinister quality.

I’ve admired them since I first saw them on the Merv Griffin Show in 1980. That they were Philly boys made it even better. In pop music, duos tend to be “married off” for life. Though it’s hard to talk about Hall without Oates, today I’m going to concentrate on Hall—the taller, blonder half of the duo. Daryl Hall's solo Sacred Songs album cover Where did Daryl grow up? Daryl Franklin Hohl grew up in Cedarville, Chester County, on the outskirts of Pottstown. After graduating from Owen J. Roberts High School in 1964, young Daryl headed to Temple University, eager to shake off the constraints of his small town. Daryl has said, “I had vague ideas of a music career. I was always a musician. Temple was considered to be the city college. I wanted to move to Philadelphia for the music.” How did Daryl get his start in music? Once in the city, Daryl immersed himself in Philly’s musical scene, gravitating toward soul, R&B and the burgeoning Sound of Philadelphia. He sang with the Delfonics and the Stylistics and got to know Kenny Gamble, Leon Huff and Tommy Bell. Hall remembers spending time on Philly street corners, harmonizing with other singers. Daryl also hung out with the Temptations when they performed at the Uptown Theater in North Philadelphia.
