His original music is lyrical and melodic, with fun danceable pop rhythms that keep up with the modern edge. The Mike Maher Band features rich vocal harmonies and a full horn section, to deliver a sound that is unique to the region. Maher’s distinct sound also allows him to reinterpret popular electronic trends into something that is both a tasteful and exciting live performance. With an electric stage presence, The Mike Maher Band entertains a wide variety of audiences with originals and favorites from groups like Chicago, Daft Punk, Frankie Valli, Stevie Wonder, Coldplay, Toto, Fun, and Maroon 5. Mike Maher and his band have been performing throughout Wisconsin since 2006. His music has been heard at festivals, corporate events, weddings, garden parties, coffee shops, clubs, bars, and independent radio stations in almost every corner of the state. Originating as a music project from the St. Norbert College of Music, The Mike Maher Band has an especially strong following in the Fox Valley, Wausau, and Milwaukee metropolitan areas. Jessie Gorovitz ’20 came up with the idea of the walkout. “I decided to organize this rally because I feel like even people who might not consider themselves to be activists are starting to pick up on that this is a situation that we’re going to have to deal with for the rest of our lives,” Gorovitz said. “It’s our responsibility now to either encourage other people to take action or take action ourselves.” Gorovitz noted while this issue may seem daunting to approach, espe- cially under the current presidential administration, it is important to engage with it on every level of government.
