EVENT SUMMARY Jordan victory for Flodin clocks second 2010 P-WRC win of season With fourteen stage victories clocked, Patrik Flodin’s (SWE) dominant driving style saw him win the third round of the 2010 FIA Production car World Rally Championship at Jordan Rally by a comfortable 1 minute 56.6 seconds in his Subaru Impreza, navigated by fellow Swede Göran Bergsten. On the second round of his 2010 P-WRC campaign, Flodin’s 25 points for his Jordanian victory place him second on the P-WRC leader board, eight points behind reigning Champion Armindo Araújo (PRT), who has now competed in three rallies. Portuguese driver Araújo had to settle for second in the raging heat of Jordan Rally after battling with Flodin throughout, notching up three stage wins (SS3, SS10, SS21) and the increased reliability of his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X. On his P-WRC debut, Lebanese Pirelli Star Driver Nicholai Georgiou claimed the final spot on the podium. Despite a cautious drive on Day One and a broken clutch (SS8) and damaged brakes (SS10) on Day Two, Georgiou became increasingly confident at the controls of his new Mitsubishi and scooped himself 15 points on the event, one he has previously contested as part of the FIA Middle East Rally Championship. Cypriot driver Spyros Pavlides took fourth place on his first outing of the 2010 season, after a battle throughout the event with Georgiou, finishing 53.5 seconds behind his rival. Despite hitting a rock on SS3 and suffering problems with his Impreza’s front differential and front right suspension on SS10, Pavlides drove a steady rally to take home 12 P-WRC points. Czech Martin Semerád, the P-WRC’s youngest driver who graduated from the 2009 Pirelli Star Driver programme, put in the best WRC performance of his career, winning four stages. Alas, all came to grief on SS14 when he hit a rock, lost a wheel and was forced to retire from Jordan Rally. DRIVER QUOTES 1st – PATRIK FLODIN (SWE): “We are really lucky to be here! We had a lot of small issues over the weekend so it was really hard for me to win. The car started having a lot of problems at the end of the penultimate stage but luckily we made it to the finish. This year has been really good for me so far. I have competed in five rallies and I have won five, which is perfect!” 2nd – ARMINDO ARAÚJO (PRT): “Until yesterday evening I was convinced I could still win this event but from the first stage this morning I saw that I couldn't keep Patrik's pace so I gave up trying and I started to think about finishing in second place. Overall it has been a good weekend, luckily we didn't have major problems. With second place I'm still in the lead of P-WRC but if we want to win the Championship we really need to win the two tarmac events later this year.” 3rd – NICHOLAI GEORGIOU (LBN): “It’s been a really intense rally. At the start we were off the pace, but it’s really good to get on the podium. Jordan Rally is almost our home rally so we’re really happy. ” 3.     2016 Rally Sweden February 11 - 14, 2016 ROUND 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 Rally Sweden February 11 - 14, 2016 2016 HYUNDAI’S HELLO Welcome to Rally Sweden, round two of the 2016 FIA World Rally Championship and another new challenge for Hyundai Motorsport. Rally Sweden will be the second event for the New Generation i20 WRC and a second different surface. We have tested on snow back in December and again last week with the new car and it’s gone well with no major issues. The drivers have been happy too; they’ve found good set-ups for the differential and the dampers so I think they are all quite confident. Thierry finished second in Sweden last year in the 2015 car but the drivers say that the New Generation i20 WRC feels even better. The car is a bit longer so it should be more stable on fast sections of road like you get in Sweden. We believe we have gained a bit of traction too, which is important on a low-grip surface like snow. In Sweden the car runs on gravel specification but there are specific details you can prepare for this event. You don’t want to get too much snow in the car because it adds extra weight so you have to make sure it is well sealed, inside the wheel arches and underneath the car. Also, because of the cold temperatures we don’t have to cool down the car as much as usual so we’ll use a different radiator.

Fourth rally, fourth first: Volkswagen will line up with three Polo R WRCs for the first time at the Rally Portugal. After a strong debut in the FIA World Rally Championship at January’s Rally Monte Carlo, the Polo R WRC then started its first event on ice and snow at the Rally Sweden in February, before making its first outing on gravel at high altitude at the Rally Mexico. From 11 to 14 April, the Rally Portugal will provide the stage for another first: Andreas Mikkelsen and Mikko Markkula (N/FIN) will make their debut in the third Polo R WRC – the number 9 car. They will be joined at the rally on the Algarve coast in southern Portugal by their Volkswagen team-mates: Jari-Matti Latvala/Miikka Anttila (FIN/FIN) and the winners of the rallies in Sweden and Mexico, Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia (F/F). “After three completely different rallies at the start of the season, the first ‘typical’ WRC rally awaits us in Portugal,” said Volkswagen Motorsport Director Jost Capito. “Tough gravel routes, spring temperatures and – unlike at the Rally Mexico – stages at just above sea level: we will probably come across the same kind of conditions at the coming rallies in Argentina, Greece and Italy. EV ENT SUMMARY Two in a row for Xevi Pons in Jordan In Jordan Rally, his second event of the season, Spanish Ford Fiesta driver Xevi Pons and his co-driver Alex Haro took their second win in a row in the 2010 FIA Super 2000 World Rally Championship. Despite not having tested since México, Pons was the only S-WRC driver not to retire on any day of the three day event. He only claimed three stage wins (SS5-7), but Pons’ consistency and increasing familiarity with his Fiesta scooped him a comfortable win and 25 accompanying S-WRC points. With a maximum 50 points, he now sits comfortably at the top of the S-WRC leader board. Against the odds, Norwegian Eyvind Brynildsen came in a clear second ahead of fellow Škoda driver P-G Andersson (SWE), who took the last place on the podium. Despite finishing nearly 12 minutes behind winner Pons, Brynildsen was happy with his performance, after a rear differential problem forced him to miss the final stage of Day One and then complete the rally with the car effectively stuck in front-wheel drive. Swedish driver Andersson headed up the rest of the S-WRC field, only six of whom completed the rally, to take points after a weekend of mayhem. Seven retirements on Day One alone left Fiesta drivers Bernardo Sousa (PRT) and Pons battling for the top spot.
