1. EVENT SUMMARY Jordan victory for Flodin clocks second 2010 P-WRC win of season

With fourteen stage victories clocked, ’s (SWE) dominant driving style saw him win the third round of the 2010 FIA Production car World Rally Championship at Jordan Rally by a comfortable 1 minute 56.6 seconds in his , navigated by fellow Swede Göran Bergsten.

On the second round of his 2010 P-WRC campaign, Flodin’s 25 points for his Jordanian victory place him second on the P-WRC leader board, eight points behind reigning Champion (PRT), who has now competed in three rallies.

Portuguese driver Araújo had to settle for second in the raging heat of Jordan Rally after battling with Flodin throughout, notching up three stage wins (SS3, SS10, SS21) and the increased reliability of his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X.

On his P-WRC debut, Lebanese Nicholai Georgiou claimed the final spot on the podium. Despite a cautious drive on Day One and a broken clutch (SS8) and damaged brakes (SS10) on Day Two, Georgiou became increasingly confident at the controls of his new Mitsubishi and scooped himself 15 points on the event, one he has previously contested as part of the FIA Middle East Rally Championship.

Cypriot driver Spyros Pavlides took fourth place on his first outing of the 2010 season, after a battle throughout the event with Georgiou, finishing 53.5 seconds behind his rival. Despite hitting a rock on SS3 and suffering problems with his Impreza’s front differential and front right suspension on SS10, Pavlides drove a steady rally to take home 12 P-WRC points.

Czech Martin Semerád, the P-WRC’s youngest driver who graduated from the 2009 Pirelli Star Driver programme, put in the best WRC performance of his career, winning four stages. Alas, all came to grief on SS14 when he hit a rock, lost a wheel and was forced to retire from Jordan Rally.

2. DRIVER QUOTES 1st – PATRIK FLODIN (SWE): “We are really lucky to be here! We had a lot of small issues over the weekend so it was really hard for me to win. The car started having a lot of problems at the end of the penultimate stage but luckily we made it to the finish. This year has been really good for me so far. I have competed in five rallies and I have won five, which is perfect!” 2nd – ARMINDO ARAÚJO (PRT): “Until yesterday evening I was convinced I could still win this event but from the first stage this morning I saw that I couldn't keep Patrik's pace so I gave up trying and I started to think about finishing in second place. Overall it has been a good weekend, luckily we didn't have major problems. With second place I'm still in the lead of P-WRC but if we want to win the Championship we really need to win the two tarmac events later this year.” 3rd – NICHOLAI GEORGIOU (LBN): “It’s been a really intense rally. At the start we were off the pace, but it’s really good to get on the podium. Jordan Rally is almost our home rally so we’re really happy. ”
