Jacob Morgan 21st Space Wing Public Affairs PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. — The sun was out and smiles abound as Team Pete held its annual sports and field day June 19 here. Thousands participated in several events ranging from Texas Hold’em and bowling to cycling and tug-of-war. Some sun-bathed while watching volleyball and listening to a live DJ, others were sweating it out on the track. With more than 30 events and a free picnic, the base got to spend qual- ity time together enjoying the outdoors and participating in some fun competitive events. “The weather really played a big role in this year’s sports and field day,” said Roger Hill, 21st Force Support Squadron athletic director. “Each year we try to make the event bigger and bigger, we had great participation this year.” Included in the participation were more than a hundred volunteers, several local sponsors, several hundred spectators and more than 1,000 athletes. “(Sports and field day) was an excellent (U.S. Air Force photo/Dennis Howk) event; a lot of people were having a great time PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. – Dozens of swimmers competed in Team Pete’s 2014 sports and field day June 19 here.
