Ongoing Out- break * A total of 7,873 SAM cases and 2 death reported, showed 711(9%) cases increment as com- 5 pared to previous week. * A total of 16 Maternal deaths reported during this week, showed 2(13%) increment com- pared to previous week. * A total of 120 suspected rabies cases without death were reported during the week. * A total of 106 Perinatal deaths were reported nationally during this week. Newly occured * A total of 82 suspected meningitis cases without death were reported during the week. outbreak 0 * Strengthening active case search for AFP, Enhanced surveillance and Immunization response should be conducted. * The response to Cholera, Dengue fever, AFP/Polio, Measles and Guinea worm outbreak should be linked to existing COVID-19 activities in order to use resources efficiently.

Dengue fever (DF): DF Outbreak is ongoing in Dire Dawa City, Atotal of 455 Cases without death were reported as of 15 October 2020. Response to the outbreak is ongoing by Dire Dawa city Health bureau and team deployed from EPHI/PHEM. See figure below.

Cholera: is ongoing in SNNPR, Oromia and Sidama region, a total of 195 Cholera cases and 2 death were reported during the week. The highest 182(93%) were reported from SNNP region followed by 8(4%) were from Oromia region and 5(3%) of cases were from Sidama region. Two Deaths were reported from Bero Woreda of SNNPR. Epi /Bulletin/ Week 41,2020 Page Number 3 Ethiopian Public Health Institute Weekly Epidemiological Bulletin No 41, 2020 AFP: Four cVDPV2 and 1 VDPV2 cases detected, of 4 cVDPV2 cases, 2 were from Oromia region (East Hararge and Guji Zone), 1 case was from Dire Dawa City and 1 was from Oromia special zone of . One VDPV2 acse was detected in Anasora woreda, Guji Zone of Oromia region. A total of 138 suspected AFP cases were reported during the week. Highest 126(91%) suspected cases were reported from Oromia region followed by 6 (4%) were from Amha- ra region. About 57(46%) Suspected AFP cases were from Arsi zone woredas of Oromia region. See figure below.

Measles: During the week, a total of 49 suspected measles cases without death were reported, which showed 7(14%) cas- es increment as compared to last week. The highest 37(80%) suspected measles cases were from Oromia region followed by 7(14%) was reported from Amhara region. See detail figure below.

Rabies: Nationally 120 suspected rabies cases without death were re- Anthrax: A total of 8 suspected Anthrax cases ported during the week. Highest 49(41%) suspected rabies cases were without death were reported during the week. One (1) additional Human case of Guinea Worm dis- ease detected in Gog woreda of Gambella region on 11 October 2020, this makes a total of 10 Pro- visional human cases. Further outbreak investigation and response to the outbreak is ongoing. A team de- ployed composed of members from the EPHI, Region- alHealth Bureau (RHB) and Carter Center. Response activities like, strengthened Active Surveillance at all the refugee camps and affected woredas, Abate larvi- cide treatment has been applied in all known eligible ponds, assessing Filter utilization practice and provid- ing filter is also ongoing.

Neonatal tetanus (NNT): Three suspected NNT cases without death were reported during the week. All of 3 cases were reported from Oromia region of (Adola, Batu and BuleHora Hospitals).

aternal Death: A total of 16 maternal deaths were reported nationally during this week, showed 13%(2 maternal Mdeaths) increament as compared to the previous week. Highest 10(63%) maternal deaths were reported from Oro- mia region and followed by 2(13%) were from SNNP and for each. See figure below.

Highest 46(43%) deaths were from Amhara region. followed by 28(26%) from Addis Ababa city and 19(18%) Perinatal deaths were from Oromia region.

Relapsing fever (RF): A total of 83 relapsing fever (RF) cases Meningitis: A total of 82 suspected meningitis cases without death were reported during the week, showed 18(22%) without death were reported during the week, which cases increment as compared to the last week. Highest 58(70%) showed 2(2%) cases decrement as compared to last RF cases were reported from Oromia followed by 13(16%) were week. The highest 29(35%) suspected cases were from reported from Addis Ababa city and 5(6%) were from Amhara Oromia region followed by 25(30%) cases from . region and 9(11%) were reported from .

alaria: A total of 41,480 confirmed and clinical cases without death were reported during the week, which showed 5663(13.7%) cases increment as compared to the last week. Highest 17,132(41%) cases were from Am- Mhara region followed by 5,707(14%) cases were from Oromia region and 5,599(13.5%) cases were from SNNP region. See figure below.

Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM): During the week, a total of 7,873 SAM cases and 2 deaths were reported, Which showed 711(9%) higher than for the same period last week. The highest 2,678(34%) SAM cases were reported from Oromia followed by 1765(22%) from SNNP region and 1606(20%) from Somali region. Of total 2 deaths reported, 1 death was reported from Dubti Hospital of Afar region and Karate Hospital of SNNPR. See figure below.
