LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR Staff Kristi Trevarrow, Executive Director Like everyone else, I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting on my life - [email protected] my accomplishments, my challenges, my joys. And as we get closer Jenna O'Dell, Events Coordinator to the end of this journey that we have all been on my thoughts, of [email protected] Taylor Clayton, Marketing Coordinator course, are of downtown. When I created Love Local Rochester, it [email protected] wasn’t on a whim, it came from a place of deep affection for this town. People hear me say all the time that I love my job, but let me be clear, Design: Wendy Christie it’s because of my love for this amazing community. Photography: Brad Ziegler My first trip to Downtown Rochester was back in 1983 when my Stylist: Maureen Follis family moved to the area from Sterling Heights. Being a shy eighth grader with a fresh set of braces coming to a new city & school, you PSD Board of Directors might imagine that it was a bit of a shock. But looking back on those Patti Eisenbraun Paul Haig, DDA Liaison early years, I really can’t say that many memories stand out, except for Amanda Harrison those of downtown. Suzette Louise I remember going to the D & C during Sidewalk Sales to get Patrick Mulrenin, Vice Chairman Kevin Stewart, Chairman popcorn; getting my winter coat at Mitzelfeld’s; stopping for burgers at Knapp’s. Little did I know that years later, I would be able to say that Promotions Committee I was a part that downtown that had meant so much to me then. Ashley Rewold Alexander Taylor Clayton, Marketing Coordinator So why am I telling you this? This downtown has been a part Linda Gallaher of me (casually and professionally) for most of my life and I can say Amber Hall without hesitation, there is no place that I would rather be. And the Hillary Heacock last year proved that I am not alone. Our community has showed up Paula Rea Johnston Alyse Leidich every day to support our businesses and each other. Downtown is a Jenna O’Dell, Events Coordinator special place because of the people that call it home. Janice Rex Weaver As you flip through the pages of this issue, you’ll see that we are Maggie Sutherland-Bobitz Marion Tobkin full steam ahead with our full summer event calendar, along with a few Kristi Trevarrow, Executive Director new ones in the line up. Yes, we’re relentlessly optimistic that we want to do everything we possibly can downtown this summer and we can’t Rochester City Council Stuart Bikson, Mayor wait to make more memories with you! Love Local Rochester isn’t just Dean Bevacqua, Mayor Pro Tem a logo or a tagline – it’s who we are. Mark Albrecht Amanda Harrison See you downtown! Ann Peterson Steve Sage Nancy Salvia
