3 Welcome to the fi rst ever Great Western Audience Development Summit!

I am proud of the hard work that was put in by all to make this premiere audience development event a reality.

You’re probably wondering why the rebrand and why the change to an already successful event? To be frank with you, our past events albeit successful and eventful, had become stale and predictable. In surveys of our memberships over the years we learned that we needed to change. These are the positive changes you can expect this year:

• More speakers and presenters who are industry experts and strategic thought leaders • Quick hitting sessions that do not exceed 30 or 45 minutes in length • A tight schedule with utilization of a clock that starts each session. When itrings the presenter is fi nished and we are immediately on to the next session. • More presentations and opportunities to learn and less time introducing our sessions and reading long winded biographies • An offsite event at the amazing Top Golf facility on Koval Lane • A dedicated business partner conference room that can be reserved for meetings with clients or prospective clients • Larger and multiple screens in the main ballroom and upgraded A/V equipment • The introduction of more business partners as presenters • A much more conducive confi guration of business partner tables and booth space • A Keynote Speaker on both Thursday and Friday • An improved and reinvigorated Single Copy Summit and agenda on Wednesday

Most notably I am particularly excited to welcome the State of New Mexico into the CWCMA footprint and also we have been fortunate to coalesce with our friends from the Texas Circulation Management Association (TCMA). The new Great Western Audience Development Summit now consists of the formidable triumvirate of CWCMA, NICE and now TCMA! Please take the time to mingle and meet your peers from New Mexico and Texas.

To my knowledge the newly branded Great Western Audience Development Summit is the largest event of its kind in the United States. Though bigger doesn’t always mean better. The Offi cers and Boards of Directors of these three fi ne sectionals are out to prove to you that our new event brings both quantity and quality to the table.

If you need any assistance or have any suggestions during or after the event please do not hesitate to reach out to myself, Ed Rose (NICE President), or Calvin Dean (TCMA President).

Enjoy the summit!

Yours in audience development pride,

Aaron J. Kotarek CWCMA President Great Western Audience Development Summit Founder

CWCMA Congrats Ad_2018 8.5x11.indd 2 5/31/18 2:40 PM This annual event would not be possible without the tremendous support we receive from our business partners.

Giving both time and treasure they provide the underlying resources we need for us to meet. This allows us as media professionals to learn from each other, to create lasting relationships through networking, and to explore new, along with tried and true solutions, our business partners provide to move our individual companies forward.

To my fellow media professionals I encourage you to spend time with each of the companies who have made the trip here to support us.

Express your appreciation beyond words by taking time to talk to them about your current challenges. Truly listen to each of them to fully understand the value of the product or service they provide. Give them feedback on why their offerings do or do not fit your needs. Explore ways to partner with them where it can help you overcome one of the many challenges of these transformative times.

Over the years this group of business partners have shown that they have an unquestionable commitment to the success of our industry.

For this they deserve our deep appreciation along with the respect of each of us by spending time with them here in Las Vegas.

To our business partners please accept my sincere thanks for your ongoing support. We are in this together.

Troy Niday CWCMA President Elect The Press Democrat Chief Operations Officer
