SCOUT STORIES

Girls in Scouts BSA

On February 1, 2019, the welcomed girls, ages 11-17, into its iconic Scouts BSA program. Since joining, girls have taken full advantage of the program by attending summer camp, participating in National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT), joining a World Scout contingent troop, and earning Merit Badges. Many of these young women will be members of the Inaugural Class of Female Eagle Scouts, which will be celebrated in early 2021. Inaugural Council-Wide The inaugural council-wide Camporee was hosted October 11-13, 2019 at Busse Woods in Elk Grove Village, IL. 5,189 Scouts and Scouters from across Pathway to Adventure Council came out to enjoy both traditional and non-traditional activities and programs. The inflatable area, climbing tower, and BB gun ranges were popular throughout the weekend for both Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA members alike! With a focus on STEM, Scouts were able to solder their own blinkie, experience virtual reality exhibits, and get their hands dirty by making their own slime.

Merit Badge Offerings Throughout 2019, the Pathway to Adventure Council hosted several Merit Badge clinics including Merit Badge Academy at Elmwood Park High School, Triton Merit Badge College at Triton College, and Trading Tech hosted by our partners in Chicago’s Financial District. In total, over 900 Scouts attended the events.

Chicago Auto Show

In February 2019, PTAC Cub Scouts converged on the Chicago Auto Show for our Annual Pinewood Derby. Scouts enjoyed watching their wooden cars race against the backdrop of new cars on display. After the Derby, Scouts and their families were welcome to peruse the full auto show floor. OUR PROGRAMS SH
