© 2012 by Skype Page 2 Summary: Skype on Sony PlayStation Vita is an app downloaded through Sony PlayStation Network (PSN). The main features of the Skype app on Vita are as follows:

• Supports Video and Audio calls up to VGA quality (640 x 480)

• Use of front or rear

• Connect via Wi-Fi or (depends on Vita hardware version and user settings)

• Skype can be put in “background” mode, where it is available to receive calls while the user is using another application or playing a game.

Note: Skype’s Instant Messaging service is not featured on this device.

System requirements: PS Vita Requirement:

The Vita unit must have a Sony Vita memory card installed (typically sold separately, but may be included in some Vita bundles). Virtually all applications and a majority of games require a memory card, so it is not unique to Skype.

Skype requires a minimum of 60 MB available on the memory card to operate.

How to Download: The Skype application is posted on the Sony PlayStation Network. Users will be able to download and install the application free of charge.

To use Playstation Network the user will need a PSN account. The user will then log into PSN, find the Skype for Vita application in the Social apps area, and download it according to the instructions provided.

Using Skype on the PS Vita requires that the user already have a Skype account, a new account can be created at Skype.com or if the user has an existing Skype account, he or she may sign in with their Skype ID and password. The user can also select if they want to be able to sign in automatically in future, without needing to re-input their info.

To the right of the screen are the Skype application icons – profile, contacts, history of your Skype calls and number keypad for dial-out calls.

© 2012 by Skype Page 5 Accepting/Rejecting incoming contact request: The user can accept or reject incoming contact requests. New contact requests appear in the contact list with a new request flag. If the user accepts the incoming request the contact is added to the contact list.

Users cannot search for new contacts on the PS Vita.

© 2012 by Skype Page 6 Initiating/ Answering a Skype video call: The user can initiate a call through the contact screen and choose the contact he or she wishes to call.

Once the contact is chosen, the user has the option to make a video call or Skype audio call.

If the user decides to conduct an audio call, he or she will have the option to turn on video.

To end the call, press the red phone button. Once the call is complete, you can press the PS button to shrink the Skype app.

Conference call: The user can participate in a conference call in audio only. Video calls will switch to audio when a conference is started. A PS Vita user can only participate, and not host, a conference call.

© 2012 by Skype Page 7 Answering Skype call while gaming: If the user wants to play a game, he or she can choose to leave Skype running in “background mode” where it will listen for incoming calls.

If the user receives an incoming call while playing a game, an alert message will appear.

Hitting the PS button pauses the game. Once the PS Vita button is pushed, a menu appears asking to launch Skype and accept the call. Once the user agrees to accept the call he or she can start talking. Otherwise the call can be ignored by pressing the “decline” button.

The call will begin in audio only mode. The user then has the option to start video.

After the call, the user can re-shrink the Skype app, by hitting the PS button and go back to the suspended game or application.

Purchasing Skype credit: Users are not able to buy Skype credit or additional Skype services (such as Skype Numbers or Premium Service) through the Skype for Vita application. The user must sign in to their account on Skype.com.
