Dassault Systèmes Extends Tender Offer for Accelrys until April 8, 2014 26 March 2014

Dassault Systèmes announces the extension of the tender offer by its wholly owned indirect subsidiary, 3DS Acquisition Corp., to purchase all outstanding shares of Accelrys, Inc. (Accelrys) common stock at an offer price of $12.50 per share in cash, without interest and subject to any required withholding of taxes. Dassault Systèmes is extending the expiration date of the tender offer until midnight, New York City time, at the end of the day on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, unless otherwise extended or terminated. Except for the extension of the tender offer, all other terms and conditions of the tender offer remain unchanged. Computershare Trust Company, N.A., the depositary for the tender offer, has advised that as of midnight, New York City time, at the end of the day on March 25, 2014, approximately 41,747,335 shares of Accelrys common stock (excluding 566,624 shares of Accelrys common stock subject to notices of guaranteed delivery) had been validly tendered and not validly withdrawn pursuant to the

Page 3 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary tender offer, representing approximately 74.8 percent of the outstanding shares of Accelrys common stock. Dassault Systèmes is extending the tender offer because the condition relating to receipt of written confirmation that the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) has completed its review of the acquisition of Accelrys by Dassault Systèmes and determined that there are no unresolved national security concerns was not satisfied by the previously scheduled expiration date of the tender offer. On March 25, 2014, Accelrys and Dassault Systèmes received written notice from CFIUS that it will be undertaking an investigation of the acquisition of Accelrys by Dassault Systèmes. CFIUS is required to complete its investigation within 45 calendar days. The 45-calendar day period is scheduled to expire on May 8, 2014, but CFIUS may complete its investigation sooner. CFIUS’s decision to undertake an investigation is not unusual and is not necessarily an indication that the acquisition raises national security concerns. Dassault Systèmes continues to believe the acquisition of Accelrys by Dassault Systèmes does not raise national security concerns. The merger agreement with Accelrys requires the tender offer to be extended in increments of 10 business days, unless otherwise agreed by the parties, if at the then-scheduled expiration date a regulatory condition is not satisfied. The regulatory conditions to the tender offer relating to the expiration or termination of waiting periods under the Hart- Scott-Rodino Act and other applicable antitrust laws in the United States, Germany and Austria and the receipt of applicable consents and approvals under such antitrust laws have been satisfied.

David Breashears Highlight of Sold Out STAR Global Conference 2014 27 March 2014

CD-adapco™ recently held its STAR Global Conference 2014. The theme of this year's conference was "Simulating Systems." During his welcome speech, CD-adapco President, Steve MacDonald said, "It wasn't very long ago, when we struggled to fill a single room, and all of the presentations were from CD-adapco staff. This year, we have a 3-day conference, spread across six parallel tracks, with over 130 presentations from all corners of industry." This expansion of the conference mirrors the growth of CD-adapco itself. MacDonald predicted that by the end of FY2014, CD-adapco will be a $200m company. Although CD-adapco consistently delivers a profit, the strategy thus far has always been to plough that money back into the development of its software products, in particular our flagship simulation tool STAR-CCM+®. MacDonald revealed that during the next 12 months, a significant portion of that development resource will be dedicated to

Page 6 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary adding a Finite Element capability to the existing Finite Volume solver in STAR-CCM+. "This will allow CD-adapco to deploy our software across entire organizations, no matter how large, and meet all of their simulation needs with a single tool," said MacDonald. David Breashears, climber, adventurer and filmmaker, was the Keynote Speaker at the conference. His riveting presentation spoke about driving success through teamwork and the importance of leadership, resource management and tool selection to overcome the greatest obstacles. Attendees were able to understand the life and death importance of accounting for variability "slack" in the design of a critical mission. The STAR Global Conference was also the official release event for STAR-CCM+ v9, the latest, greatest, version of CD-adapco flagship simulation tool. Jean-Claude Ercolanelli, Senior VP Product Management, closed his presentation with a roadmap looking forward to the coming year of CD-adapco product development which included a sneak preview of the Finite Element capability MacDonald had announced earlier. Attendees learned firsthand from experts in a number of STAR-CCM+ training courses and were equipped with a wealth of hints and tricks to make their own CAE process more effective. Approved conference presentations will be available on the CD-adapco website (http://www.cd- adapco.com/conference_video) soon.

Delcam GmbH opens new office in Southern Germany 24 March 2014

Delcam GmbH has opened a new office in Eislingen in Baden-Württemberg to further increase its sales in the southern part of Germany. Delcam’s German subsidiary achieved record sales of software and maintenance in 2013 and, with the opening of the new office, is looking forward to even better growth this year. The modern offices in the attractive location of Eislingen were purchased in early November, 2013. They offer a pleasant working environment for the planned total of seven staff team that is now being recruited. The opening of the new office is an important step to further develop the company’s business in southern Germany, where it is already seeing strong demand for its CAM and CAD systems, as well for its hardware-neutral inspection and reverse engineering software. “The location in Eislingen is ideal in order to increase our local presence in one of the world’s strongest economic regions – the Stuttgart area,” said Robert Aulbur, Managing Director of Delcam GmbH. “One important criterion in selecting the building was that our new office should have well-equipped classrooms. Our customers in southern Germany can now benefit from Delcam’s full range of training courses, without the long journey to our headquarters in Obertshausen, near Frankfurt.” In addition, the building in Schillerstraße 21 is located only a few minutes’ walk from the train station in Eislingen and so is easy to reach by train as well as by car.

Page 8 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary “We are in the process of recruiting more experienced sales and support staff for the new office,” added Robert Aulbur. “Our plan is to develop the Eislingen office as a regional centre of excellence, providing the same high level of training and technical support that our customers receive from our Obertshausen headquarters.”

Ineco’s ‘HS2 Birmingham Delta Junction’ Project Wins 2013 Bentley Be Inspired Award 27 March 2014

Bentley Systems, Incorporated, announced that Ineco’s HS2 Birmingham Delta Junction project in Birmingham, U.K., has won a 2013 Be Inspired Award. Ineco is a global leader in transport engineering and consultancy. The project won in the “Innovation in Rail and Transit” category. The recipients of the Be Inspired Awards were selected by six panels of independent jurors, comprising accomplished Bentley users and distinguished industry experts, from 65 project finalists. These finalists had been previously chosen from submissions by more than 300 organizations in 43 countries. The awards honor the extraordinary work of Bentley users improving and sustaining the world’s infrastructure, recognizing outstanding and innovative project achievements in infrastructure design, construction, and operations empowered by effective strategies for B/IM. (“B/IM” signifies Bentley’s advancement of the reach and benefits of BIM – for better-performing assets through increased depth of information modeling, and better-performing projects through increased breadth of information mobility.) Commenting on the award presented to Ineco, Steve Cockerell, Bentley industry marketing director, rail, said, “This award category recognizes projects that have demonstrated excellence in rail and transit design or operations and maintenance. “The first phase of the High Speed 2 (HS2) Railway under development in the U.K. will run 200 kilometers between London and Handsacre in the West Midlands, at a design speed of 400 kilometers per hour. At the Delta Junction in Birmingham, the Main Line coexists with branches to Birmingham and Leeds, creating complex structures and sections. Ineco designed this GBP 350 million section using Power Rail Track, MicroStation, and ProjectWise, enabling it to reduce the resources required for the project by 30 percent. “Power Rail Track’s versatility in designing sections with walls and platform junctions achieved the optimal model for Delta Junction. The program’s project preferences ensured that all team members – at offices in London, Wales, Madrid, and Seville – worked with the same standards as required by the owner, HS2. ProjectWise managed all documentation and optimized access to information. “The jurors cited the project’s excellent use of integrated Bentley technologies, while working in a compressed time schedule, as one of the factors in its selection of HS2 Birmingham Delta Junction for this award. They were also impressed with how quickly the project team was able to become proficient in the use of Bentley products, which allowed it to start up quickly. “On behalf of my colleagues at Bentley, I congratulate Ineco on this extraordinary accomplishment.” Berta Barrero, Ineco corporate managing director, said, “It is an honor to receive the prestigious Be Inspired Award and contribute our experience and our expert team to the development of such an

Page 9 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary important project as HS2.”

LECTRA: International Companies get Industry Insights at Lectra Fashion Seminar 27 March 2014

Lectra hosted companies from around the world at its Lectra Fashion Seminar in Bordeaux-Cestas (France). The event welcomed 70 delegates representing 40 fashion and apparel companies from Europe, North America, Africa and Asia at Lectra's International Advanced Technology & Conference Center, in Bordeaux, France. This seminar explored how businesses can use best practice expertise and technology to improve the fashion and apparel development cycle and optimize workflows. Lectra's Design to Cost approach was presented in addition to a host of other solutions such as design, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), pre-production and production, which are applied according to a customer's specific process. Attendees benefited from live demonstrations of Lectra's end-to-end approach. Yet it was also Lectra's industry knowledge, R&D investment and range of professional services, which made a real impression on delegates. "The conference did an excellent job of showing us how we, at Ralph Rucci, can partner with Lectra. In particular, Lectra provides a path for fashion firms to be strategic in their operational decisions and process. While the products themselves are strong, the service is what differentiates Lectra. They provide more than just solutions; Lectra provides thought-partnership," testifies Cornelia Moore, Strategy Lead at US brand Ralph Rucci. Delegates were given food-for-thought as Lectra specialists presented the changing landscape of the fashion market and the increasing urgency to align front-end process with pre-production and production to increase design and style options, understand costs and generate substantial material savings. In addition to areas of bottom-line improvement, demonstrations also provided a look at how design, 3D and collection management technologies can be leveraged to create top line growth opportunities. "By better controlling product development, the engine of most apparel companies and the heart of a brand's DNA, shortening time to market and increasing design options are made possible. This puts companies in a better position to attack growth strategies such as adding additional product lines, targeting new regions, or even launching new brands," says Anastasia Charbin, Fashion Marketing Director, Lectra. "The devil is in the details" was an oft-repeated phrase and delegates were both amused and impressed to see how simple changes to business under a lean methodology could have a big impact on both short and long term success. "I have really enjoyed the event. We are really focused on production efficiency in our factory and we already use lots of Lectra solutions. The idea of a PLM is really interesting for us, so it is good to see everything united and how the solutions are used. The Lectra people know our industry well and what is currently happening within this industry," concludes Steve Blanchette, President of Canadian company Vêtements Cookshire.

Page 10 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary The two-day event finished on a high note as Daniel Harari, Lectra CEO roused the audience saying, "Projects are what motivate us. We love good challenges, as this is how we progress."

Delcam CRISPIN to Launch “Intelligent” Footwear Software at Jinjiang Expo 25 March 2014

Delcam CRISPIN will launch the 2014 version of its Engineer Pro software for pattern development and grading in the footwear industry at the Jinjiang International Footwear Exposition to be held in Jinjiang Machi City, Fujian, China, from 18th to 21st April. The new version includes a number of enhancements that add "intelligence” to the software and so make it more intuitive and faster to use. For full details, please go to www.delcam-crispin.com Delcam CRISPIN is the world’s largest supplier of CADCAM software to the footwear industry. It is the only supplier able to provide a complete solution for the 3D design and manufacture of lasts, uppers and soles. Engineer Pro helps users to produce 2D samples and graded footwear patterns for manufacturing in the fastest possible time, whilst also assisting in the management of tooling costs. One of the key enhancements in the 2014 release can be seen when creating a chain from a series of intersecting lines. Engineer Pro now anticipates the chain that the user wants and highlights it. Any constrained items, including markers, linked to the chain will react more intelligently during grading and will adjust their positions automatically if the grading operation would make them overlap the boundary of the piece. The single-click boundary command introduced in the 2013 release of Engineer Pro has been enhanced. Adjoining regions can now be added to the piece with a single click in the neighbouring area. In addition, if a part has a mirrored boundary, the features will be mirrored automatically. Once the piece area has been finalised, edge details can be added around the part simply by dragging and dropping designs from the library of edge templates. Another time-saving enhancement is the ability to step around all the intersections in the boundary and apply radii to the corners. Adding these curves in place of sharp corners speeds up and simplifies subsequent cutting operations. Any sharp corners that need to be retained can be deselected from the boundary. Chamfers can be added around the boundary in a similar way, with notches being skipped

Page 14 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary automatically since it makes no sense to apply a chamfer to a notch. Notches are also skipped if the radius value is too large to be applied. Another new improvement adds more intelligence to the selection of small items. If the cursor is positioned close to a small detail like a notch, the system will assume that this is what is to be selected, instead of the user having to zoom in to make the selection. In addition a "Select All Like” option allows users to choose a particular line type and then select all similar lines automatically. Once selected, the group of lines can be edited simultaneously. For example, all margins could be selected and converted from slots suitable for making paper patterns into lines for the final piece. Finally, more general improvements in Engineer Pro 2014 include improved import of DXF files using the Delcam Exchange data-translation system, plus better support of the pallet milling and auto-stitching equipment manufactured by Orisol.

Delcam India to Showcase Die Mould Capabilities at TAGMA DieMould 28 March 2014

Delcam India will showcase its CADCAM capabilities for the Die/Mould segment at the DieMould India exhibition to be held in Mumbai from 17th to 20th April. Delcam India offers a comprehensive set of software, ranging from product design and modification, manufacturability analysis, electrode planning and design, comprehensive design of the mould/die tool through to CNC programming and inspection using the world’s best CAM and metrology technology. Providing seamless integration between Computer-Aided Design, Computer-Aided Manufacturing and Computer-Aided Inspection, Delcam’s solutions are unique in enabling a multitude of capabilities in the toolroom, with the shortest learning curve across the disciplines. Continuing to add value to the Die/Mould industry, Delcam India will be launching its next generation patent-pending high-speed roughing technology - Vortex®, at the event. The Vortex® strategy uses solid carbide tools to rough parts using the full flute length to cut material by generating offsets from the part profile to produce efficient toolpaths regardless of the part shape, while controlling the engagement angle at all times. On display at the Delcam booth will be demonstrations related to Vortex® and case studies where customers have saved 60% in machining time over their conventional processes. The added benefit of the strategy being increased tool life, one can appreciate the savings in tooling investment too. Delcam will also demonstrate the latest enhancements to its Delcam Electrode integrated solution for the design, machining and inspection of electrodes. The enhancements include support for burn-vector electrodes, automated machining of electrode frames, batch processing of multiple machining projects and faster generation of electrode drawings. The ability to automate programming within PowerMILL as part of the electrode solution does save considerable time for the user. However, when machining a large number of electrodes, it is inefficient to wait for toolpaths to be calculated on each individual project. To overcome this problem, the option to use batch processing of multiple projects has been introduced within the electrode machining wizard. Delcam Electrode combines Delcam’s PowerSHAPE CAD software, PowerMILL CAM system and

Page 15 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary PowerINSPECT inspection software to give a completely integrated solution for the design, machining and inspection of electrodes. At the heart of the Delcam solution is a novel file format – the .Trode file. This contains all the information for each electrode project, including not only the electrode design but also the machining and inspection information, plus the set-up sheets for its manufacture and use. Having all the required information in a single file simplifies data management as well as increasing overall efficiency. Commenting on the participation, Vineet Seth, Delcam’s Managing Director for India and Middle East, said, "We would like to present our Advanced Manufacturing Solutions to Toolmakers and Toolmaking organisations who also cater to allied industries such as Aerospace, Power generation, Heavy Engineering and Defence sectors amongst others. Our solutions have been successfully implemented across these high-precision industries, and it is only natural that Toolrooms adopt these for their design and manufacturing requirements. We also provide specialist solutions for the machining of small parts (MicroMachining) including Swiss-Type Turning and complex, Multi-Axis Turn-Mill applications. Our On-Machine-Verification Application/Tool that has been successfully embraced by manufacturers of large Dies & Moulds will also be on offer and I feel that the time is now ripe for toolrooms making large dies and moulds to adopt this path breaking technology to save time and money. Quite a number of Die Mould companies in India work actively with the Healthcare industry. Our CAD/CAM tools for Design and Manufacturing of Custom Orthotic insoles, Dental restorations, implants and Orthopaedic footwear might interest a section of the industry, and we would be eager to discuss these emerging opportunities with them.” Further to Delcam’s recent acquisition by Autodesk, the company will now operate as a wholly-owned, independently-operated subsidiary, so that it can continue to deliver its industry-leading software to its customers. "Delcam India will maintain its focus on growing our market share, with the added strength that will come from being part of a larger organisation,” commented Mr. Seth. "Our business will continue to operate as before, with our customers receiving the same high level of support from our skilled and experienced engineers.”

The design and development of products for space programs is constantly pushing the leading edge of technology. This translates to implementing requirements to manage a constant flow of engineering design refinement as issues and opportunities for improvement are found during the manufacturing, assembly and test processes. These types of requirements go beyond the typical scenarios for manufacturing. “We are also ready with solutions for more intimate integration of the critical supplier network for the next generation of space programs.” Specialized solutions like iBASEt’s Solumina software suite are designed for more intimate coordination between engineering design functions and the supplier and operations execution network. It is critical to know what engineering changes have been incorporated, which ones are pending, and what actually went up into space.

Page 16 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary Compliance assurance to specifications and requirements is much more than having a cabinet full of paperwork to demonstrate compliance. It is about controlling the processes proactively in a systematic way so the actual build is never allowed to be out of sync with requirements and specifications. Deviations must be approved and incorporated with full traceability. The automation of these processes becomes more critical when key subassemblies and components need to be coordinated with partners and suppliers. iBASEt has developed and continues to evolve solutions for these special needs working closely with leading companies in the aerospace and defense industry. In preparation for the ARES program, the space shuttle program implemented many process improvements with Solumina including paperless execution and launch operations for Space Shuttle Atlantis, Challenger, and Endeavour. “The lessons learned in those programs are a great starting point for future space programs,” stated Conrad Leiva, VP Product Marketing and Alliances at iBASEt. “We are also ready with solutions for more intimate integration of the critical supplier network for the next generation of space programs.” For a more detailed look at how you can leverage Solumina to improve collaboration and execution among engineers, suppliers, and manufacturing operations, please visit iBASEt at Space Tech Expo on April 1-3, 2014 at the Convention Center in Long Beach, CA booth# 4044, or visit them at www.solumina.com.

Nemetschek Scia to Introduce New Open Design Technology at the 2014 Structures Congress 21 March 2014

Nemetschek Scia will introduce Scia Design Forms, a new Open Design technology that allows Structural and Civil Engineers to centralize their engineering design tasks into one integrated workflow, at Structures Congress 2014 in Boston, Mass., which will take place April 2-4. Scia Design Forms allows civil and structural engineers to easily write their own checks and engineering calculations, which can then be linked to Scia Engineer, the company’s FEA (finite element analysis) software. With Scia Design Forms, engineering firms can:  Centralize design tasks into one integrated workflow, so there are fewer disparate analysis models that need to be manually coordinated.  See exactly what formulas and methods are being used for a check, so designs are completely transparent, eliminating the “black box” aspect of current engineering design software.  Easily modify code checks. Checks written with Scia Design Forms are open and can be easily edited.  Remove the dependency on any one software vendor. With Scia Design Forms, engineers

Page 18 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary can easily extend their FEA software by adding their own design checks. “Giving engineers the ability to write their own checks in their FEA software is a real game changer for some firms,” says Dan Monaghan, U.S. Managing Director, Nemetschek Scia. “Now engineers can pull together their external checks into one workflow, as well as customize their FEA software to support all the checks a firm may need." Calculations created in Scia Design Forms can be run as stand-alone or linked to Scia Engineer, Nemetschek's flagship 3D Structural Analysis program. When linked, the input values (geometry, loads, etc.) for a given calculation can be pulled directly from the analysis model. Results are displayed graphically on the 3D model and the detailed calculation output can be integrated in the Scia Engineering report. Unlike general purpose mathematical programs, such as Excel, MathCAD or MATLAB, Scia Design Forms is designed specifically for creating structural engineering calculations. Design Forms ships with pre-configured databases of engineering elements such as material and cross section libraries that make creating structural checks fast and efficient. The output is flexible and transparent, making it easy to create professional engineering reports. Results can be shown as simple summaries or as detailed reports that show all the formulas used in a calculation, complete with dynamic illustrations. And, Design Forms can import Excel sheets so engineers can migrate easily from current workflows to Scia Design Forms. To learn more, please visit the Nemetschek Scia booth, #300, at Structures Congress 2014 or visithttp://www.nemetschek-scia.com/designforms.

OPEN MIND Gives UK Debut to 'CAD for CAM Users' Package at MACH 25 March 2014

The new advanced hyperMILL® 2013.2. CAM software from OPEN MIND has now been vastly improved in its CAD component, thanks to the new hyperCAD®-S platform. The new hyperCAD®-S will show how it can improve processing speeds and user work flow at MACH 2014 on Stand 5341. In hyperCAD®-S, OPEN MIND has developed its own CAD system that is ideally matched to the CAM system hyperMILL®. This CAD solution is specifically designed to address the requirements of NC programmers. In Version 2013.2, hyperCAD®-S has been improved in a number of ways. Tool and mould making, in particular, is always associated with geometries from a variety of sources. To import these reliably, hyperCAD®-S incorporates a series of first-rate interfaces. The interfaces have now been enhanced for the import of 2D entities, 3D meshes and dimensions as vector graphics by adding a DXF/DWG interface. This allows for layers, colours, line types and work-planes to be imported, provided they were defined in the origin system. If the parts are stored in hyperCAD®-S, they can be analysed thoroughly. A new feature with this product is the recognition of double entities. Regardless of whether this involves curves or faces, as soon as they occur twice, they will be recognised and displayed. First, the component is displayed as transparent; the double parts found are then highlighted in the selection colour. This provides a quick overview, as Wolfgang Weiss, product manager for hyperCAD®-S at OPEN MIND explains: “The advantage of this new function is the reliable removal of double entities already in the CAD part of the system, which saves a lot of time during CAM programming.” It is also helpful to now have the option to reverse a current selection. Through the inversion, the user can quickly isolate certain entities by selecting, inverting and rendering invisible surrounding entities. What remains are the entities of interest. Editing parts

Page 20 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary CAM users too must be able to make constructive changes to imported parts to some degree, to prepare them optimally for NC machining. This often includes the filleting of faces. Using hyperMILL® 2013.2, it is now possible to generate constant fillet faces between two faces or tangential chains that are trimmed and extended automatically. Advanced edge curve recognition has also been added. This is a fully integrated function that substantially facilitates the user’s work. The new command creates the topology of the faces, ‘sews’ them together and generates a clean edge boundary. Finally, OPEN MIND has developed a new data format for hyperCAD®-S, ‘hyperMILL® CAD Template’ (hmct). This allows users to create, save and re-use templates in a meaningful manner. This innovative new 'CAD for CAM users' solution will be introduced at MACH with extensive demonstrations available from the OPEN MIND UK technical team.

Use of solidThinking Inspire® Revolutionizes the Additive Manufacturing Design Process for the World's First 3D Printed Bike Frame 25 March 2014 solidThinking today announced a major achievement in the additive manufacturing industry which may in future revolutionize the way components are designed and made. Renishaw, the UK's only manufacturer of a metal-based additive manufacturing machine, used solidThinking Inspire® 9.5 software to help create the world's first 3D printed metal bike frame. Chris Williams of Empire Cycles, a leading British bicycle design and manufacturing company, designed the mountain bike to take advantage of Renishaw's additive manufacturing technology, allowing the creation of a titanium frame that would be both strong and light. Renishaw used Inspire to perform the topological optimization and concept generation. Inspire generated a new material layout within the package space using the loads and supports as input. This provided a concept that not only met performance targets, but also achieved minimum mass. A tool such as Inspire goes hand in hand with additive manufacturing by generating component designs that maximize manufacturing freedom, leading to stronger and lighter components. Lightweighting was the ultimate aim of the project, resulting in parts that are designed for maximum strength with minimum weight. The new seat post is 45 percent lighter than the original. "We took the seat post bracket from 360 grams down to 200 grams, and weight savings does not require compensation in other areas. We have not yet fully exploited the possibilities of finite element analysis, which is a big job for a project like this. What we have been able to do is get close to optimum and test the bike in the real world with a whole host of sensors on the frame, collecting actual data and optimizing from there," explained Robin Weston, Renishaw Marketing Manager. "The seat post bracket created by Renishaw is a truly revolutionary use of solidThinking Inspire and additive manufacturing. A 45 percent weight reduction on this part not only helps to increase performance, but can also help to decrease material costs," said solidThinking Program Manager, Andrew Bartels. "We are thrilled to see companies like Renishaw push the barriers of traditional manufacturing by utilizing Inspire for concept generation."

Page 26 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary With significant weight savings achieved on a single component, and some reservations Williams had about the design, the scope suddenly expanded. "While we had thought about extruded or hydroformed aluminum tubing or even carbon fiber for the frame, bonded onto some titanium bits at the corners of the triangles, we started to look at doing even more." Williams explained that the use of standard frame materials really inhibited design freedom. "As we looked at the main aluminum frame and its 2100g contribution to overall weight, we knew we could help to create something just as strong but much lighter. From there the idea that we could do more, even all of the major frame components, came together. As no tooling is required, continual design improvements can be made easily, and because component cost is based on volume rather than complexity, some very light parts are possible at minimal cost." Renishaw will present its work and exhibit the Empire bike at this year's European Altair Technology Conference from June 24th – 26th, 2014 in Munich: www.altairatc.com/europe.

Mentor Graphics Announces Lean NPI Solution to Seamlessly Automate PCB Design and Manufacturing Processes for Optimum Productivity 26 March 2014

Mentor Graphics Corporation today announced its unique new product introduction (NPI) solution that seamlessly links printed circuit board (PCB) design and manufacturing operations to deliver the industry’s first integrated, automated flow for the design, fabrication, and assembly of PCBs. The Mentor Graphics® Valor® NPI software product helps the design- and product-level NPI engineer prepare and validate product models according to the manufacturer’s rule-set in the engineer’s native design tool. This ensures a perfect design for production, without requiring specialist manufacturing knowledge or expertise. This then enables the process-level NPI engineer to evaluate and create process toolkits with no manual data entry, so the manufacturer will have a “right-the-first-time” design to eliminate production errors. As the market share leader in PCB computer-aided manufacturing, Mentor Graphics closes the gap between the designer and manufacturer. Now, the manufacturer can create and adjust the rules to meet manufacturing requirements that the designer can follow for a truly bi-directional, consistent, one-rule flow. Mentor Graphics lean NPI solution benefits NPI product and process engineers by reducing design re-spins, improving overall product quality, and shortening product delivery schedules. “Sintecs provides a Lean NPI service to our leading electronics-OEM customers comprising full DFM analysis feedback to design, and maximum use of the intelligent ODB++ format as input to manufacturing," stated Maarten Tettero, consulting DFM/DFA engineer, Sintecs. "As a result, the PCBs go through the prototype stage into volume production much faster using Mentor Graphics Valor NPI technology.” “We’ve experienced tremendous time and cost efficiencies using Mentor’s Lean NPI flow because it optimizes our productivity and inter-communications between NPI design and manufacturing process disciplines,” stated Nick Barbin, president and CEO, Optimum Design Associates. “Mentor’s new lean NPI flow provides a key competitive advantage for us by integrating and automating our design, fabrication, and assembly processes." A New Level of NPI Integration for PCB Design-Through-Manufacturing The lean NPI flow solution from Mentor Graphics provides a true PCB design-through-manufacturing solution by first preparing and verifying the final PCB product model definition, then delivering that product model through the

Page 37 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary manufacturing process definition, factory floor tooling, and documentation creation stages. The lean NPI flow leverages the ODB++ v8 open standard for intelligent design-to-manufacturing data transfer. “Mentor Graphics is the PCB design and PCB CAM market share leader. Our depth of product and process modelling, coupled with the industry-accepted ODB++ standard, provide us with the technologies and services our customers require to deliver our automated lean NPI solution,” stated Dan Hoz, general manager of Mentor Graphics Valor Division. “Mentor’s new lean NPI flow enables PCB designers to design products and get them manufactured successfully, faster, and at lower cost. Designers benefit from DFM technology that is now more integrated into the design process than ever before, and manufacturers benefit by being able to deliver higher value to their customers’ design processes.” The ODB++ Solutions Alliance (www.odb-sa.com), an open forum for implementers and developers of the ODB++ data format, has over 5,000 members and over 60 global partners to support and implement the ODB++ de-facto standard. To successfully implement a “Lean NPI” strategy, companies must support a distributed process that must be open and easily adaptable to third-parties. Hence, the ODB++ data format is well-accepted and widely used, compared to several formal standards that have not been widely adopted. For Mentor customers, the ODB++ file format within the lean NPI flow transports the product model into the process-NPI stage to fully automate design-through-manufacturing processes for a seamless flow. Mentor Graphics “Lean NPI” Solution – Features and Benefits • Release by designers of a single-file ODB++ (v8) product model that requires no manipulation by manufacturers enhances product control and quality assurance across dispersed prototype and volume manufacturing supply chains. • Inclusion of “virtual documentation” in the product-model coming from the product-NPI phase of the lean NPI flow eliminates the need for manual entry of product data at the process-NPI stage from drawings and “side-files”. Siemens' NX Software Now Available in Cost-Effective Private Cloud Environment 26 March 2014

Siemens’ NX™ software, the company’s flagship solution for integrated 3D computer-aided design, manufacturing and engineering analysis (CAD/CAM/CAE), is now available in a cost-effective private cloud environment. Siemens worked closely with NVIDIA Corporation to certify the deployment of NX

Page 43 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary in the private cloud using virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) with NVIDIA GRID™ vGPU™ (virtual graphics processing unit) technology. This technology enables companies to use central servers with remote access, to host software on a virtual desktop. VDI certification eliminates the need to install NX on a local client which helps reduce IT support costs. The new deployment option enhances flexibility and further expands the wide variety of platform choices available to NX customers. As a result, Siemens and NVIDIA were able to help one of their joint customers, Turkish Aerospace Industries, Inc. (TAI) successfully deploy NX in a private cloud environment. “By deploying Siemens’ NX in our private cloud using the NVIDIA graphics environment, we can optimize resources and eliminate strains on IT,” said Serdar Kaya, IT System Engineer, TAI. “Virtual desktop infrastructure and dynamic allocation of graphics processing power for designers and engineers working with NX is a necessity for supporting our vision of moving 400 engineers to virtualized desktops and applications. We are constantly expanding, and our engineers require varying amounts of graphics power each day from project to project. Simply buying and maintaining more workstations and more graphics cards is costly and unmanageable. NX in our private cloud enables us to avoid these costs and to simplify the complexity of management while increasing our user density.” VDI solutions offer the ability to support server based accelerated 3D graphics plus remote display and user interaction. Vendors such as NVIDIA, a world leader in visual computing, offer server based graphics cards, and the major computer OEMs have developed servers designed to support these graphics cards. As a result, applications such as NX, which is developed by Siemens’ PLM Software business, can run within a company’s corporate datacenter and remotely display the graphics to clients running low power PCs, tablets or even mobile devices. By keeping the compute and graphics processing within their own datacenter the customer gains improved security, easier administration of small sites and faster access to the data residing on the server or local storage systems. “Siemens is pleased to work with NVIDIA to help companies like Turkish Aerospace Industries take advantage of the new VDI deployment capability of NX,” said Jim Rusk, senior vice president, Product Engineering Software, Siemens PLM Software. “The key business benefits of deploying NX on the private cloud through VDI are cost reduction and flexibility. The VDI approach to deployment has been driven by industry requirements to reduce costs while at the same time, increase innovation. This new delivery platform will help give design engineers greater access to NX technology so they can make smarter decisions that result in better products.” "Siemens is leading the industry towards securely mobilizing graphics-intensive design applications by certifying NX software on our NVIDIA GRID technology for virtual desktop and application infrastructure,” said Justin Boitano general manager of the NVIDIA GRID business, NVIDIA. "By supporting their applications with NVIDIA GRID virtual GPU, Siemens can deliver – from any device – the same industry leading 3D visual experience that was previously only achievable on a workstation."

The Altair Partner Alliance Expands Its Comprehensive Composites Modeling Offering Even Further 26 March 2014

Page 45 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary

The Altair Partner Alliance (APA) today announced that Multiscale Design Systems (MDS), LLC has enabled its software, MDS, on the Altair license manager. MDS focuses on composite materials and structures at multiple spatial and temporal scales. "Multiscale Design Systems is anticipating the start of a long and fruitful partnership with Altair and its Partner Alliance," said Jacob Fish, President of MDS. "Our software will help HyperWorks users perform highly comprehensive composites modeling by applying such processes as multiscale fatigue and multiphysics analyses, as well as microstructural optimization, to help them reach the ideal composite material and/or structure for their projects." MDS delivers a solution that offers a seamless blend of modeling, simulation and testing, while allowing users to quantify uncertainty and optimize composites. Outfitted with methodical model-reduction technology, MDS reduces complex unit cells from hundreds of thousands of finite elements to a manageable number of deformation modes and state variables. It also is equipped with an extensible library of parametric unit cell models that are generated automatically using the built-in CAD and meshing tools. One benefit of MDS is that it has extremely thorough mathematical processes. It is also versatile for users by offering such advanced capabilities as microstructural optimization, multiscale fatigue and multiphysics analyses. "Altair is very pleased to add Multiscale Design Systems to the Partner Alliance offering," said Dave Mason, Altair's Senior Vice President, Global Automotive and Aerospace. "As manufacturers expand the use of advanced composites in their designs, there is an absolute requirement for more accurate simulation capabilities for predicting failure modes. MDS software technology not only provides Altair HyperWorks users accurate multiscale predictions, but also its unique approach provides great efficiency, which is a must for these complex simulations." Two versions of MDS are available: MDS-Standard and MDS-Professional. MDS-Standard consists of the Multiscale Design System for Continuum (MDS-C) module. This module resolves microscale fields at a computational cost comparable to that of macromechanical modeling. MDS-Professional includes three modules in addition to MDS-C: Multiscale Stochastic Design System (MDS-UQ), Multiscale Multiphysics Design System (MDS-MP) and Multiscale Fatigue Design System (MDS-FT). The MDS- UQ module is a nonintrusive multiscale solver with stochastic forward and inverse capabilities. MDS- MP couples many physical processes at multiple scales. These can include oxygen and/or moisture diffusion along with reaction and deformation. Finally, MDS-FT uses the two-scale asymptotic homogenization approach for time and reduced order homogenization for space. Both can be effectively applied to any material architecture and any constitutive equations of microphases. The APA will include both versions of the software. Available for the past 13 years, Altair's innovative unit-based licensing system allows HyperWorks users customizable access to a growing portfolio of applications, optimizing their return on investment (ROI) by making more than 20 in-house-developed applications available by use of a single pool of recyclable HyperWorks units (HWUs). Altair also has offered the opportunity for third-party companies to run their own applications under this unit-based system, a collaboration now known as the Altair Partner Alliance. The overall flexibility of these HWUs empowers users via access to the largest, most complete suite of CAE applications available. The ROI increases for users each time a new application is added to the offering, since any of the partner programs can be accessed using the same leased HWUs they are already using to run HyperWorks. This makes more than 50 additional applications available at no incremental cost or long-

Page 46 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary term commitment. The introductory webinar for MDS is taking place on April 09, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. EDT. HyperWorks users can learn more about the company and download the software at www.altairalliance.com/mds.
