A Word from the Mayor The Annual Town Meeting and Awards By the time this paper comes through your letterbox we will have held the Annual Town Meeting. I’m hoping that it was as successful as last year’s, with many town organisations showing off what they do. As well as showcasing the town, I awarded several groups with the Town Awards. They went as follows: The Sports Award was presented to Nailsworth Primary School. Over the last year the school has worked hard to improve sporting equipment for youngsters in the town, a room full of rowing machines allows for lots of exercise and competition. They have also opened their new Multi Use Games area, which was funded by part of the money from the New Lawn Section 106 money. The Arts Award is for a team of people, all volunteers, who last year started changing how the town looks by committing to enter Nailsworth in the Heart of England in Bloom competition. Not only did they win a Silver Gilt through their efforts, but they transformed many parts of the town with flowers, planting, baskets and troughs. Their extraordinary shouldn’t concentrate on doing things, but instead should help efforts are continuing and spreading. others do things. The end result is greater than anything that the Council could do on its own, and is much more inclusive and The Youth Award went to the Nailsworth and Minchinhampton sustainable. Lloyds Bank Building – Then and Now! Waiting patiently in the traffic flowing slowly down Fountain Street one lunch time at the end of March, I had the opportunity to take a closer look at what was going on around me! As I passed the former Lloyds Bank building with the scaffolding up, I was reminded of an image in the Nailsworth News from 2009, showing scaffolding around the building in 1887 - much as it is now. Thank you for bringing back happy memories!

On Friday 5th April, we held our Easter church service at St George’s Church, when the school performed Bob Marley’s ‘One Love’. Everyone participated in the Swimming gala, reflecting our school motto “Together, inspired by the challenge” and continuing the sporting theme, five members of staff completed the Bath Half- Marathon on Sunday 17th March.
