Little West Hole – how to find us

We are just off the A388 to Launceston Road about 7 miles north east of Holsworthy and 7 miles south west of and on an unnamed road about half a mile west of the village of Newton Saint Petrock.

Following Sat Nav Using the postcode EX22 7LW will lead you to the Baptist Chapel further up the hill. If you find yourself here, then head westwards down the hill and Little West Hole will be on your left at the bottom of the hill where the road bends sharp right. Using the village name Newton Saint Petrock could lead you anywhere as ours is a very spread out village and we are not in the village centre. If you find yourself in the centre of Newton Saint Petrock, follow the signpost for Holsworthy past the church, out of the village, past the Baptist chapel and community centre on your right. Go down the hill and Little West Hole will be straight ahead of you (before the bend) at the bottom of the hill where the road bends sharp right. Visitor parking is adjacent to the road in front of the barn.

From the North or North East Head to J27 on the M5 then take the A361 westwards towards Tiverton and . Turn left onto the B3227 heading for . Follow this road through South Molton, , Atherington, and Great Torrington until it joins the A388 at . Please be aware that this road has some very steep hills, sharp bends and very narrow places. To avoid these, continue on the A361 towards Barnstaple and take the A39 south towards Bideford. Follow the signs for the A386 to Great Torrington (sometimes signposted as just ‘Torrington’) and then turn right onto the A388 signposted to Holsworthy. After Stibb Cross ignore the first sign post for Newton St. Petrock, As you come down the very steep hill (you feel as if you are going to drop off the edge of the world!) note the electricity pylon on your left and the crossroads sign, then half way down the hill take the next left turn signposted for Newton St. Petrock. This sign is right at the junction and directly opposite it. You will see a hotel complex (The Woodford Bridge) at the bottom of the hill, if you go past here you’ve missed the turning! Little West Hole is half a mile down this lane and is the first house on the right on a sharp left hand bend. Visitor parking is adjacent to the road in front of the barn.

From the South or South East From (M5, A303 or A376) take the A30 to . Go through the town centre and turn north onto the A386 heading towards . At the first round in Hatherleigh take the 1 st exit to turn left (west) onto the A3072 towards Holsworthy. If you are feeling brave, from you can head cross country through Sheepwash and to Newton Saint Petrock. Otherwise keep heading for Holsworthy and just after you pass the recycle place turn right at the chapel signposted for Holsworthy Beacon. Turn right at Holsworthy Beacon onto the A388. Go through and after about 2 more miles you will pass the Woodford Bridge Hotel at the bottom of the valley on your left. As you come up the steep hill out of the valley, turn right about half way up signposted for Newton St. Petrock. This sign is right at the junction and directly opposite it. Beware that as you slow down to prepare to turn right, cars behind you love to speed past and overtake! Little West Hole is half a mile down this lane and is the first house on the right on a sharp left hand bend. Visitor parking is adjacent to the road in front of the barn.

From the South West Take the A30 towards Exeter. Either take the A39 through Wadebridge towards Bude and then the A3072 to Holsworthy. Or, take the A30 to Launceston the then the A388 to Holsworthy. From Holsworthy, take (or keep on ) the A388 towards Great Torrington. Go through Holsworthy Beacon and Milton Damerel and after about 2 more miles you will pass the Woodford Bridge Hotel at the bottom of the valley on your left. Closest Bus Stop is half a mile away at Woodford Bridge on the A388 Stagecoach route 71 or 85 (Barnstaple/Holsworthy).

Nearest Train Stations: Exeter or Barnstaple. From Exeter either take the train to Barnstaple and then get the bus (Stagecoach 71 or 85) to Milton Damerel, Woodford Bridge. Or, get the bus (Stagecoach 599) to Holsworthy then change to Stagecoach 85 to Milton Damerel, Woodford Bridge. Note that there is no bus service on a Sunday.
