This fall the Studio will be releasing director Ang Lee’s highly anticipated action thriller, GEMINI MAN, starring Will Smith. Ang’s unique vision for this film includes recording and projecting in the most pristine and immersive formats. We want to do everything possible to make projecting the high frame rate version of GEMINI MAN a turnkey experience for you and provide audiences the latest technological advancement in cinema. In advance, we would kindly request you take a few minutes to play a short piece of test footage to see if your theatre is High Frame Rate capable. The test footage is a short generic piece and is not taken from the action film. Test instructions are shown below. HFR TEST INSTRUCTIONS - ACTIONS REQUIRED 60 fps 3D-capable equipment • Sony: 200-300 series models require a HFR license.
60 fps 3D- and 120 fps 2D-capable equipment • Barco: All DLP series 2 projectors with an integrated media block. • NEC: All DLP series 2 projectors with an integrated media block. • Christie: All DLP series 2 projectors with an integrated media block and a HFR license
In all cases, you should make sure your equipment is updated with the latest firmware. You are highly likely to encounter problems if you have not updated your software/firmware. DLP series 1 projectors and series 2 projectors without an IMB are not HFR capable. We have made test footage available at https://ql.mediasilo.com/#ql/5c630928e4b05d699980d7ad Based on the capabilities list above, please download the package(s) which your equipment should be able to play (after download click “save”) and load them on your server. For PC Users; if you experience issues transferring the downloaded 2D/3D file from your hard drive to a USB please try the following: Open zipped file by double clicking on the file or using 7-Zip to open archive. Once opened, drag and drop each file individually from your hard drive to the USB. Under Configuration > 3D> 3D Settings Christie: Single flash is accomplished by setting “Frame Rate N:M” ratio of 1:1 or 2 :2. Under Menu > Advanced Setup > High Frame Rate 3D File Setup NEC: for configuring NEC projectors to single flash, please contact NEC or your projector service company Sony: Sony Projectors and dual projector systems (Dolby, Imax, etc) do not need to be configured for single flash Note: There will be a 24 fps version available for those unable to present HFR.**Please complete the attached questionnaire and return via email to [email protected] by March 15th 2019**
