VMC worked with numerous "spokespeople" from throughout the community to share what makes Mason City a unique destination for visitors - and also a great place to live and do business. THANK YOU to the following partners who participated in interviews for the episode:  Chip Kinsey from the Frank Lloyd Wright Stockman House & Architectural Interpretive Center spoke about the community's architectural treasures  Marty and Sophia Walsh shared what brought them to the community, the variety of employment and social opportunities available for young adults, and what makes Mason City a great place to raise a family.  Dr. Steve Schulz, NIACC President, provided a great overview of the variety of opportunities available for people of all ages at the NIACC campus.  Liz Gales shared how the North Iowa Auditorium offers many quality of life amenities including the NIACC Performing Arts & Leadership Series - also an attraction for visitors.  Scott Moorman spoke about Mason City as a great place to raise a family and grow a business. During his interview he touched on many points including Mason City's commitment to historic preservation, appreciation of the arts, health and wellness initiatives, and upper story living.  Jake Rajewsky, owner of the soon-to-open Fat Hill Brewery, shared his story and why he and his fiancé - both from outside of the area - have chosen to not only live in Mason City but invest in Downtown with their new business venture.  Ken Shadle and Jan Phelps, docents at The Music Man Square, provided great interviews about the community's musical heritage and the legacy of Meredith Willson.  Pat Schulz and Scott Borcherding from Wright on the Park spoke about the restoration and success of the Historic Park Inn.  Lime Creek Nature Center provided a beautiful natural setting and Todd Vonehwegen shared the many recreation opportunities the Center provides to both residents and visitors to the community. The 2016 John Pappajohn Iowa Entrepreneurial Venture Competition came to a close on August 25th with the announcement of the winners at a special recognition luncheon at Drake University in Des Moines.

Performance Livestock Analytics of St. Ansgar, run by Osage High School grads Dane Kuper and Dustin Balsley, received first place and was awarded $25,000.

Performance Livestock Analytics has created a data-driven, real-time analytics system for precision livestock operations management. Through its Performance Beef product, a farm management platform for livestock producers, and through its Cattle Krush profit management application, the company helps the world’s livestock producers efficiently measure and manage activities and inventories as well as provides software analytics support for the entire livestock lifecycle.
