Julia Morley President-Miss World

I want young women to be able to learn from each other and be confident without having to take off their clothes.

I am a mother and grandmother. I don’t want the girls to parade in bikinis. Not because it is bad but because it is not necessary. A woman does not have to show herself in this way. We are interested more in their mind and elegance. , India

We are very happy to make women comfortable and feel good about themselves as a whole person. Message du Président du Miss Pamplemousses Pamplemousses District Council de 20 September 2018 Pamplemousses

Fellow Residents it’s with much humility and with great honour that I seize this opportunity to address to you.

Although Local Government in Mauritius has existed for more than 200 years, our District Council is a new entity.

It is generally agreed that District Councils exist for the very purpose of promoting the Community’s general welfare. Community involvement is, and should be the important preoccupation of Local Councils. I am convinced that residents should be encouraged to participate in the local authority’s affairs, whether through the right of initiative or co-option.

In any way, Proximity and Responsiveness to the community will remain high on our agenda and thus we had the opportunity to organize the very first Miss Pamplemousses Beauty Pageant and Social Ambassador of the District. The mission, vision and objectives of the pageant are aimed instilling in contestants the importance of uplifting people in our local communities pride, promoting intercultural understanding and increasing external appreciation and support of problems of communities face.

In addition, beauty pageants are about breaking stereotypes and raising awareness of feminine issues, encouraging campaigns in which to have our young ladies participate and make a difference. For us at the District Council the endeavour through this competition was to not only search for looks but a quest for beautiful minds. I have to also heartily thank the Miss Mauritius Organization for collaborating with us and giving our participants the chance to perform and excel in higher platforms.

Although the District Council of Pamplemousses is just 4 years old, we have many reasons to be proud of our achievements. I look upon the past for inspiration; I regard the accomplishment only as signposts to the future, as I believe that the future must come from within the communities where people live, work and have their being.

There is only one future.

It is a future of Diversity where communities work in harmony for sustainable human development. It is a future of Partnership building on the strengths and contributions of all elements of Society.

I firmly believe in a policy which recognize the above principles, thereby allowing local councils to serve the common good and help in the making of a just and equitable “world of our own”.

Do not hesitate to contact me for any constructive suggestion you may have.

Mr Sunael Singh Purgus Chairperson, District Council of Pamplemousses Message of Manager, Hennessy Park Hotel

It is already six wonderful years that we are partners with Miss Mauritius National Organisation and I must say that we really enjoy helping the organisation to go ahead in its constant pursuit of the evolution of our youth.

As you may be aware Hennessy Park Hotel is engaged in promoting the local fashion industry and there have been many Miss Mauritius National Pageant participants who have become famous models and contributed in the promotion of our beautiful island.

This year we have had the pleasure of welcoming Miss Mauritius contestants for the Elegance award but as well Best Dress and Talent awards, preliminary contests in our Lounge Bar ‘Backstage’ and it was a fantastic success which was mostly appreciated by our guests and regular customers.

The Hennessy Park Hotel team joins me to wish each of the 14 contestants all the best.

“ I would like to congratulate the Miss Mauritius National Organisation for its enthusiasm and dedication to always bring the competition to higher levels. ”

Julien Glannes Miss Mauritius 2017 Message of Anne-Murielle Ravina Miss Mauritius 2017

Miss Mauritius is a school of life.

Miss Mauritius is my school of life. Since my first participation in 2012, this competition has instilled in me some principles that have really helped me to set new goals in both my academic and professional life.

This contest has not only allowed me to know more about beauty and fashion but also helped me to achieve personal excellence. In 2012, I did not get the crown but I gained experience, knowledge and maturity. With determination, passion and a positive mindset, I decided to re-participate in 2017. I was crowned Miss Mauritius, a dream that came true.

I have won several titles in my life but Miss Mauritius is one of my greatest achievements. I met several people in various institutions and it gave me a new perception of life. We were invited for some social and cultural activities such as a solidarity walk for World Mental Day, Carnival for the 50th Independence Anniversary held in Mahebourg, New Chinatown Foundation promotions amongst others.

These activities have inspired me to learn more about the multicultural side of Mauritius and to really embrace it. I also got the opportunity to meet some beautiful souls.

The Miss Mauritius National Organisation is a platform where I was able to be the best of myself, discover hidden talents, equalize beauty with intelligence and build up my self- confidence.

In addition, it has also shaped my personality, character and uplifted me in many ways. I consider this contest to be stepping stone for the future. I envision doing politics and being Miss Mauritius is a great opportunity to prepare myself for such future career. I also spend my time and share my knowledge with other youths and try to be a role model.

I am currently preparing myself for the Miss World Pageant which will be held in November in China. I am also looking forward to live this new edition of Miss Mauritius 2018 pageant. Therefore I wish to encourage all of you to join us for this year’s edition. It will be full of adventure and courses that will transform you and allow you to be your best. To all of you, young ladies and guys, I wish all the best.

Anne Murielle Ravina Miss Intercontinental Mauritius 2017 Message of Miss Luicinda Sandoce Intercontinental Mauritius 2017

A little girl’s dream...

You cannot receive without giving. Give your time, your attention and your affection to people and you will be rewarded by excellent opportunities in your life. I am blessed by openings and advantages coming my way since I was crowned last September.

I decided to participate in the 2017 edition of Miss Mauritius national pageant along with my best friend. It was my fourth pageant; I have been struggling throughout the years but I never gave up my dream of representing my country at the international level. Efforts do pay!

Having been crowned Miss Intercontinental Mauritius, I competed at the world finals in January in the picturesque . Wearing memorable gowns, participating in international photoshoots and meeting worldwide famous professionals was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. It was more than an experience: it was a little girl’s dream, years’ sacrifice and a fully accomplished mission.

Without the help and advice of all members of the Miss Mauritius National Pageant committee, it would not have been possible. Today I am stronger, more confident and ready to face anything. From discovering new sights and meeting new persons, attending VIP events and sharing a tear or two when speaking on my reign and gratitude, I have been blessed and honored to be Miss Intercontinental Mauritius 2017.

To all aspiring Miss and Mister, I wish good luck: I cannot wait to see what you can do for your communities, your loved ones and for those who did not ask for help, but whom you helped anyways because you can.

Luicinda Sandoce Miss International Mauritius 2017 Ashna Nookooloo Miss International Mauritius 2017

“ A Journey of a thousand miles begin with a single step.”

Hello everyone, I am Ashna Nookooloo, Miss International Mauritius 2018, currently a 2rd year part-timer student at the University of Mauritius Trust (UOM Trust), studying Risk Management and Investment. I also work as an administrative officer.

One year ago I took the decision to be part of an adventure, to participate in Miss Mauritius Pageant 2017 because I believe it stands for what I wanted to represent and become the voice that motivates and inspires the young generation. During this one year, I have explored many places and gotten acquainted with the vast culture we have here in Mauritius.

So I encourage you to read this and take your courage in both hands and join this beautiful adventure so as to become an inspiration model for the next generation.

By winning the crown of Miss International Mauritius, I realized the way I’ve grown since day one. It is all about being yourself, making the most of the experience, creating friendship and memories that will live forever.

I can still recall the finals like it was yesterday, the rehearsals, the excitement, the crowd, the support of family and friends, butterflies in my tummy and remember telling myself “no matter what or how it ends, I should be proud of myself for putting everything I have, and did not think I have, on the stage and giving my all.

“ Lao Tzu said “A Journey of a thousand miles begin with a single step.” So here’s your chance to make that step. I didn’t regret it one bit. Big thanks to that remarkable Organisation, especially the National Committee.

Ashna Nookooloo Mr Mauritius World 2017 Message of Alexandre Curpanen Mr Mauritius World 2017

I cherish and never will forget the moments we shared together; the rehearsals, the meetings and all else. Heart beating faster and faster before the proclamation of the winners is something everybody should get the chance to live. At the time I am writing this message, teardrops are falling. Words cannot express such an unbelievable experience.
