BUILDINGS

1.0. GENERAL

The Buildings Organization of the Public Works Department is one of the oldest and prestigious Departments of the Government of Tamil Nadu.

Buildings Organization provides quality services for construction and maintenance at reasonable cost, by utilizing modern technologies and experience attained through years of practice and in that process set standards for best buildings practices.

The organization marches towards better service delivery to the people by adapting to the present day trend of new materials and technologies. Building Organisation of Public Works Department is taking all efforts for better service delivery with this long term vision.

2.0. EXPENDITURE FOR THE YEAR 2015-2016

During the financial year 2015-2016, the following expenditure made under Demand No. 39 :

Capital works expenditure : Rs. 644.07 Crore

Establishment expenditure : Rs. 170.68 Crore

Maintenance & : Rs. 41.27 Crore Minor works expenditure

Total : Rs. 856.02 Crore

1 3.0. DEPARTMENT-WISE WORKS IMPLEMENTED IN 2015-2016 :

3.1. AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT

3.1.1. Works completed

Construction of 8 Nos. of building for Seed Storage Godowns (1000 MT Capacity) along with Seed Processing Unit (500 MT Capacity) each at Rs.37.50 Lakhs and 2 Nos. of Seed Processing Unit (500 MT Capacity) each at Rs.12.50 Lakhs for a total estimated cost of Rs.3.25 Crore completed.

Construction of 2 Nos. of building for Seed Storage Godowns (1000 MT Capacity) each at an estimated cost of Rs.25.00 Lakhs completed.

Construction of building for Agriculture Extension Centre at Thalaivasal in Salem District at an estimated cost of Rs.60.00 Lakh completed.

Construction of building for Agriculture Extension Centre at Panaimarathupatti in Salem District at an estimated cost of Rs.60.00 Lakh completed.

Construction of building for Central Horticulture Training Centre at Kudumiyanmalai in Pudukottai District at an estimated cost of Rs.45.13 Lakh completed.

Construction of building for District Horticulture Extension and Training Centre at Erode at an estimated cost of Rs.20.00 Lakh completed.

Construction of building for Agriculture Extension Centre at Annavasal in Pudukottai District at an estimated cost of Rs.60.00 Lakh completed.

2 Construction of Organic Fertilizer Testing Laboratory at Tiruchirappalli and Coimbatore at an estimated cost of Rs.1.50 Crore completed.

3.1.2. Works in progress

Construction of Library building & Staff Quarters building for Horticulture College and Research Institute for Women at Navalur Kuttapattu in Srirangam Taluk of Tiruchirappalli District at an estimated cost of Rs.5.25 Crore is in progress.

Construction of Integrated Agriculture Extension Centres at 50 Places at an estimated cost of Rs.75.00 Crore (Rs.1.50 Crore each). Out of above, 43 works are in progress, 7 works to be taken up.

Construction of Central Integrated Pest Management Centre at Panjupettai in Kancheepuram District at an estimated cost of Rs.31.50 Lakhs is in progress.

Construction of Soil Testing Laboratory and Fertilizer Control Laboratory at Erode in Erode District at an estimated cost of Rs.56.00 Lakhs are in progress.

3.2. ANIMAL HUSBANDRY, DAIRYING AND FISHERIES DEPARTMENT

3.2.1. Works completed

Construction of building for 335 Veterinary Dispensaries, 15 Veterinary Hospitals, 3 Veterinary Centres, 2 Polyclinic Centres, 5 Frozen Semen Production Centre, 1 Monitoring Cell and 12 Veterinary Farms in various places of Tamil Nadu at an estimated cost of Rs.117.92 Crore completed.

Construction of building for 85 Veterinary Dispensaries at an estimated cost of Rs.12.75 Crore completed

3 Construction of building for Liquid Nitrogen Tanks at 10 places under National Agriculture Development Programme at an estimated cost of Rs.3.40 Crore completed

Construction of building for Rural Veterinary Hospitals and Dispensaries in 142 places at an estimated cost of Rs.16.56 Crore completed.

Construction of Bio Security Wall, Elevation work and 500 KVA Transformer for the Upgradation of Bacterial Vaccine Production Laboratory at Institute of Veterinary Preventive Medicine at Ranipet in Vellore District at an estimated cost of Rs.1.30 Crore under National Agriculture Development Programme Scheme completed.

Construction of Bio Gas Plant in District Live Stock Farm at Udhagamandalam in Nilgiris District at an estimated cost of Rs.25.00 Lakh completed.

Construction of building for 10 Permanent Check Post for Animal Husbandry Department at an estimated cost of Rs.1.40 Crore completed.

Strengthening of Semen Station in District Live Stock Farm at Udhagamandalam in Nilgiris District at an estimated cost of Rs.2.30 Crore completed

3.2.2. Works in progress

Construction of 450 works for Rural Veterinary Dispensary buildings at an estimated cost of Rs.94.50 Crore under NABARD Assistance (Phase-XIX). Out of the above, 446 works completed and 4 works are in progress.

Construction of Building for Veterinary Hospitals, Dispensaries, and other buildings at 226 places at an

4 estimated cost of Rs.58.73 Crore under NABARD assistance (Phase-XX). Out of above, 221 works are completed, 5 works are in progress.

Construction of building for Rural Veterinary Dispensaries in 193 places at an estimate cost of Rs.40.53 Crore under NABARD Assistance (Phase- XXI). Out of above, 22 works are completed, 149 works are in progress and 22 works are to be taken up.

Construction of Integrated Office Complex Building at Government Farm Village at Saidapet, Chennai at an estimate cost of Rs.29.70 Crore is in progress.

Construction of District Live Stock Farms at 7 places in Tamilnadu at an estimate cost of Rs.7.25 Crore are in progress.

Construction of Compound Wall in 114 Kallar Higher Secondary / High / Middle / Primary Schools at various places at an estimated cost of Rs.11.60 Crore. Out of

6 above, 94 works are completed, 6 works are in progress and 14 works will be taken up.

Construction of Toilet Block in 54 Kallar Higher Secondary / High / Middle / Primary Schools at various places at an estimated cost of Rs.5.79 Crore. Out of above, 45 work completed, 8 works are in progress and 1 work will be taken up.

Construction of Additional Laboratory, Additional Toilet Block and Compound Wall and Water Supply facilities to 48 Kallar Higher Secondary / High Schools at an estimated cost of Rs.11.49 Crore. Out of above, 6 work completed, 35 works are in progress and 7 works will be taken up.

Construction of Additional Dormitory for Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and De-notified Community Students at 10 places at an estimated cost of Rs.4.50 Crore. Out of above, 2 works completed, 7 works are in progress and 1 work to be taken up.

Construction of Branch building for Tamilnadu Industrial Co-operative Bank Limited at Ambattur in Tiruvallur District at an estimated cost of Rs.42.35 Lakh and Sattur in Virudhunagar District at an estimated cost of Rs.36.57 Lakh completed.

Construction of Building for Central Co-operative Bank at Mathur in Krishnagiri District at an estimated cost of Rs.81.50 Lakh completed.

3.5. COASTAL DISASTER RISK REDUCTION PROJECT (CDRRP)

Details of works for the construction of 121 Multipurpose Evacuation Shelters in 12 Coastal Districts in Tamil Nadu under Coastal Disaster Risk Reduction Project with World Bank Assistance at an estimated cost of Rs.345.60 Crore are as follows:

Construction of building for Sub Registrar Office at 25 places at an estimated cost of Rs.14.44 Crore. Out of the above, 11 works completed and 14 works are in progress.

Improvement works to Commercial Tax Office (4th Floor) at Ezhilagam Building, Chepauk, Chennai at an estimated cost of Rs.1.38 Crore are in progress.
