I authored and integrated the user interface as needed. • Work closely with UI Lead and designers to integrate UI assets into the game. • Worked with principals and stake holders to develop the UX flowcharts for several of the game features. • Defined file naming taxonomy and folder structures for team assets. DayBreak Games LLC October 2017 – July 2018 Sr. UI Artist I was the UI Artist on H1Z1 and AutoRoyale. I was responsible for typography, icons, layouts, styles, animations and FX. I worked with other departments to provide concept art/designs and breakdowns/animation design of UI and related interactive elements, in both HUD and in-world settings. I also worked with the VFX departments, environment and lighting specialists for polish of scenes. Studio Yokai January 2014 – October 2017 Sr. UI Artist I created and designed three games for the iOS and console market. With my years of experience in designing compelling and quality interfaces, I ensured that the design vision was executed correctly during the development process not only by myself but by those working with me. While I designed the UI and HUD artwork, I tasked outside resources to help with environment artwork, level design and coding. I also performed simple ActionScript 2 coding as needed. 343 Industries | Microsoft Game Studios June 2011 – September 2012 Technical UI Artist (Contract) AAA title HALO 4 (Xbox360) Mastered proprietary software at Microsoft for development of UI screens on Halo 4. Created, streamlining, templating, and adding logic while maintaining templates used system- wide. Assemble functional menus and implement designs for the front-end and in-game UI. Created assets in Photoshop and integrated them into the game's screens with performance and reusability in mind. Communicates well across teams at 343i and document processes. Authoring and integration of the user interface. Mastering the use of game engine tools to integrate UI assets into the game. Worked closely with the artists, designers and developers to bring mockups through pipeline into the game and find creative solutions to both technical and artistic UI challenges. Human Head Studio March 2011 – May 2011 UI Lead PREY 2 (PS3, Xbox 360, PC) Project Cancelled with Studio Create HUD and UI art. I was tasked to define the user model and user interface for the new PREY 2 game. I developed high level and detailed storyboards, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas. I played an active lead role in the feedback and iteration cycle. I participated in the user testing to gauge the usability of new and existing designs and made constructive suggestions for change. Game Design as an Expression of Philosophy of Action Hans-Joachim Backe IT University of Copenhagen Introduction: Agency, Character, and Possibilities for Action When we say that we act in digital games, we are implicitly aware of two general relativizations of such a statement: First, we know that, as players, we cannot act directly within a game, but act rather upon it by manipulating an interface, no matter how internalized or naturalized it might be. Second, we understand that the range of our actions is strictly limited to what is coded as possible into the game engine, and that the same is true for the effects of our actions. Actions performed in digital games tend to be contingent upon a digital agent that stands in for the player, if those actions are anthropomorphized and experientially situated in a gameworld. As explored in writing on the player-avatar-relationship (e.g. Linderoth 2005; Klevjer 2012), the central, playable character of avatar-based games is a very complex phenomenon: At the very least, there is a marked difference between the avatar as the “prosthetic extension” (Klevjer 2012, 1) of the player’s will, or, put differently, the focal point of her agency (Wardrip-Fruin et al. 2009) in the gameworld, and the pre-scripted personality, behavior, and dialogue of the protagonist of a game’s fiction. Daniel Vella has explored this tense relationship most recently and at the greatest depth so far, combining those two dimensions in the term ‘playable figure’ to better be able to distinguish between the ludically functional avatar and the fictional player-character (Vella 2015: 213-224).

It follows a Native American named Domasi Tawodi (Tommy) through a physical and spiritual journey of discovery and self realization resulting in a clear and well-developed premise (what a character learns due to the events in the story). Tommy, a distraught mechanic living on a reservation in Oklahoma, desires a drastic change in his life and to escape from his reservation with his girlfriend Jen. He is then forced to take action when an alien ship known as the Sphere launches a large scale invasion of earth with the goal of harvesting all life from the planet, and the entire Roadhouse Inn with Jen, Tommy, and Tommy’s grandfather Enisi inside is lifted into the invading ship. Tommy’s journey through the Sphere closely parallels Joseph _ampbell’s Monomyth (the hero’s journey). Each aspect of the Monomyth is touched upon during Prey, and the character interactions and development required to achieve such a feat are all present. During Prey, Tommy must reach an internal balance between his world mask and true self to save himself, his world, and those other world endangered by the Sphere. The story is further told without breaking the first person perspective and without forcing the player to relinquish physical control of Tommy. Rather than resorting to cut-scenes or the silent protagonist common throughout the first person shooter genre, Prey tells its story with a self away and commutative protagonist that both maintains the player’s feeling of immersion and allows the character to eXperience various quandaries and resolutions throughout the game.
