It is the salient feature of the globe. Its fate is ours. With population rising, some scientists talk of farming the oceans. Others speak of extracting products from igneous rock and seawater. But whatever men may evolve, the role of the sea in the chemistry and health of our planet is crucial. The better we understand it, the better our chances of protecting the ecological balance among all of earth's creatures—from marine life to man. Yet, even while fact displaces mystery, our awe of the sea endures. The pecten shell is an emblem for companies known around the world. But its beauty is no less in its origin than its form. And it reminds us to keep a sense of urgency in the quest for knowledge of our environment. ATLANTA SCHOOL OF ART Third Annual Student Exhibit and Sale Coming in December The Associates of the School and the Student Alliance will co-sponsor the third annual exhibit and sale of work by students in the School’s degree pro­ gram. The Student Exhibit and Sale will be held in the Galleries of the Memorial Arts Center on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, December 1, 2 and 3. The exhibit provides the public with an excellent opportunity to observe the diversity of background, interest and di­ rection of the School’s degree-program students. The sale, which benefits both HAAS AND DODD-INSURANCE the individual student and the Student Alliance's Summer Scholarships Fund, 3dfit provides an opportunity to purchase qual­ ity works of art at reasonable prices.
