This trend is located within the context of Generation X and considered within the framework of nostalgia and Linda Hutcheon’s (2006) conception of adaptation. FILM REMAKES FILM REMAKES CONSTANTINE VEREVIS ‘A fi ne work of scholarship, Film Remakes promises to change the way we think about the phenomenon of the remake, and indeed about fi lms, culture and intertextuality. This is the most authoritative, subtle and complex work on the cinematic remake that I have encountered.’ Lesley Stern, Professor of Film and Media, Visual Arts Department, University of California, San Diego This is the fi rst book to provide a comprehensive and systematic account of the phenomenon of cinematic remaking. Drawing upon recent theories of genre and intertextuality, Film Remakes describes remaking as both an elastic concept and a complex situation, one enabled and limited by the interrelated roles and practices of industry, critics and audiences. This approach to remaking is developed across three broad sections: the fi rst, remaking as industrial category, deals with issues of VEREVIS CONSTANTINE production, including commerce and authors; the second, remaking as textual category, considers genre, plots and structures; and the third, remaking as critical category, investigates issues of reception, including FILM REMAKES audiences and institutions. The fi lm remake emerges as a particular case of repetition, a function CONSTANTINE VEREVIS of cinematic and discursive fi elds that is maintained by historically specifi c practices, such as copyright law and authorship, canon formation and media literacy, fi lm criticism and re-viewing. These points are made through the lively discussion of numerous historical and contemporary examples, including the remaking of classics (Double Indemnity, All That Heaven Allows, Psycho), foreign art-fi lms (Yojimbo, Solaris, Le Samouraï), cult movies (Gun Crazy, Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Dead), and television properties (Batman, The Addams Family, Charlie’s Angels).

Crossover Grid Key (organized by quadrant) 1. In the center: St Elsewhere's Dr Turner was investigated for murder by Homicide's Pembleton and Bayliss. And St Elsewhere's entire run was just a dream inside autistic Timmy Westphall's head. This means every show listed below is a figment. And Newhart (and the shows that crossed over with it) are a figment twice over. (See: Bottom right quadrant) 2. Top left: St Elsewhere's Westphall, Craig and Auschlander visited Cheers' bar A. Cheers' Norm, Cliff, and Drs. Crane visited Wings' airport. i. Cheers spun-off The Tortellis with Carla. ii. And going back to Cheers it also spun-off Fraiser. (1) John Larroquette Show's John Hemingway called into Fraiser's show. (a) John Larroquette Show referenced Yoyodyne. Yoyodyne was also a client of Angel’s Wolfram & Hart. (i) Angel was a spin-off of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. (for more on Buffy see item 4.A.) (ii) Weyland-Utani is also a client of Angel’s Wolfram & Hart. • Jefferson Lives”
The West Wing Weekly 5.03: “Jefferson Lives” [Intro Music] HRISHI: You’re listening to the West Wing Weekly, I’m Hrishikesh Hirway. JOSH: And I’m Joshua Malina. Thanks for sticking with us into season 5. HRISHI: Today we’re talking about episode 3 from season 5; it’s called Jefferson Lives. JOSH: The story is by Carol Flint and Debora Cahn, the teleplay by Carol Flint, the direction by Alex Graves. And this episode first aired on October 8th, 2003. HRISHI: It might have been October when this aired, but in the episode it’s the 4th of July. But the mood at the White House is far from jubilant. The Bartlet's are trying to dig a tunnel to recovery from the depths of the aftermath of Zoey’s kidnapping. The Bartlet administration is trying to build a bridge to the next election cycle by nominating a strong choice for Vice President, Secretary of State Berryhill. But the brief and fragile bipartisan alliance that was cobbled together in crisis has already fallen apart, and the President must meet with a list of watered-down candidates, pre-approved by the Republican congressional leadership. Plus, C.J. has a crisis of confidence. And some things steam up between Amy and Josh. JOSH: Yeah they do. I thought that was palpably post-Sorkin. HRISHI: Well, to jump right into that… Amy, she takes off her shoes and puts her feet on Josh’s desk, and then they kiss. This is basically the Fifty Shades of Grey episode of The West Wing.
