JULY – 23 Denmark Street opens SEPTEMBER – Animated NOVEMBER – HARRY HARRISON commercial plays in West End As a Passion... is our first signing cinemas before screenings of Alien ...For comics and science fiction and later for movie and TV memorabilia and toys.

1984 1983 1981 1980 Forbidden Planet first opened it’s doors on Denmark Street, the location of a 12th century former leper colony, but better known NICK RHODES of MARCH – PETER DAVISON is NOVEMBER – Forbidden Planet 2, MAY – STAR WARS in the 60s & 70s as ‘Tin Pan Alley’ – the street where David Duran Duran signs our first Doctor Who signing specialising in movie cast signing MAY – Signing by STEPHEN KING memorabilia opens AUGUST – First 2000AD signing Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, Elton John and the Sex Pistols composed, rehearsed and recorded, as well as where the top rock bands came to buy their instruments.

1986 1987 1988 1990 The original store hosted the best and brightest of science fiction, comic book and TV stars such as Douglas Adams, Sir SEPTEMBER – FRANK MILLER AUGUST – Launch of Tales From JULY – Forbidden Planet MAY – WILL EISNER signing signs The Dark Knight Returns The Forbidden Planet book Cambridge opens AUGUST – James ‘SCOTTY’ Terry Prachett, Arthur C. Clarke, Neil Gaiman, Neal Adams, Alan SEPTEMBER – ALAN MOORE & NOVEMBER – Our first signing JULY – London stores combine and Doohan signing Moore, Phillipe Druillet, Leonard Nimoy, Adam West, Mike DAVE GIBBONS sign Watchmen with TERRY PRATCHETT relocate to New Oxford Street store Moorcock and several thousand other authors. It soon needed more space, moving to New Oxford Street and then to our 1996 1995 1994 1993 current location of Shaftesbury Avenue. The store business expanded around the country, adding both Forbidden Planet Forbidden Planet New stores open in NOVEMBER – Forbidden Planet Bristol publishing companies for fiction, illustrated books, comics and Southampton opens Croydon opens Liverpool and Coventry opens on Penn Street DECEMBER – New Oxford Street store magazines as well as a merchandise division and even dabbling expands to give even more floor space in a five year West End theatre run and an air freight company.

But, at the end of the day, the reason it all works is you – our 1997 1999 2001 2003 customers and staff. And we would like to thank you for sharing the journey and the passion.
