The committee met, pursuant to notice, at 12:04 p.m., in room SD±226, Dirksen Senate Office Building Hon. Arlen Specter presid- ing. Also present: Senator Feingold. OPENING STATEMENT OF HON. ARLEN SPECTER, A U.S. SENATOR FROM THE STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA Senator SPECTER. Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. We will proceed with the hearing on S. 952, which involves the conditioning of the antitrust exemptions enjoyed by baseball and revenue-shar- ing on football on the major leagues and the National Football League contributing to new stadium construction. And another part of the legislation would give the National Football League an anti- trust exemption to control franchise moves.
