A With the theme “Advancing Psychosomatic Medicine through Excellence in Education” we look forward to an exciting and rewarding experience with colleagues and friends. This is the Academy’s main event 0 of the year and we are confident that it will meet your expectations for professional growth. An exciting group of plenary speakers will address major issues: Dr. Darrell Kirch, “Will Mind and Body 1 P Finally Be Reunited in the ‘Medical Home’?”; Dr. Susan Lieff, “Teaching for Learning: Bringing Theory to Practice” and Dr. Eugene Beresin, “Integrating Mind, Body, and Environment in Psychiatric Education.” 0 We have a wealth of ideas and research information to absorb from concurrent paper sessions, a poster session, workshops and symposia, based on 228 submitted abstracts. The Hackett Award lecture by Dr. Donna Stewart and the Research Award lecture by Dr. Bruce Rollman will be highlights, and the M Awards & Fellowship Convocation luncheon will provide an opportunity to recognize colleagues’ con- tributions to our specialty. A full day “Updates in Psychosomatic Medicine Course” and five pre-conference “skills” courses covering “Updates in Internal Medicine for the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatrist (sponsored by the Association of Medicine and Psychiatry),” “Pediatric Psychosomatic Medicine: Mending Hearts and Minds”, “The Business of Building Psychosomatic Medicine Services”, “Psychophar- macology for the Psychosomatic Psychiatrist” and ” Neuropsychiatric Masquerades: Medical and Neurological Disorders that Present with Psychiatric Symptoms” will provide additional educational opportunities for those who arrive on Wednesday. Based on what this annual meeting has to offer, we are confident that you will leave on Sunday re-invigorated about our specialty and even more prepared to serve your patients.
