INTRODUCTION I. The assessment of the prevalence and geOgraphrcal distrlbutlon of onchocerclaSls and blindness in the progranme area of the Volta River Basrn is based on the results of medicat and parasitological examination of approxlmately three mr.llron persons. The data were acquired from various sources, includrng natlonal and rnternational the age organizations as well as independent investiBators. In most lnstances ' and sex structure of the population samples was not known. Therefore, only the crude total prevalence estlmates of infections with Onchocerca volvulus and of impaired vision could be used for comprehensrve epidemiological analyses and for cartographic presentation of the data. 2. The present annex includes atl of the currently avarlable rnformation on the disease in the progranrme area. Although the survey is still rncomplete, It provides an up-to-date and comprehensive account of aIl indrvrdual communltles for which survey records on onchocerciasis were obtalnable. Specral efforts were made to trace unpublished records concealed in the archtves of smaller medical field stations or kept in the files of individual investigators. In the completion of this task, wHo has enjoyed the ful1 cooperation of the governmental health serl'lces of the seven countries in the programme area, as well as that of the Organtsatlon de Coordination et de Coop6ration pour la lutte contre les Grandes End6mres (OCCGE), the Office de la Recherche scientiflque et technique Outre-mer (ORSTOM) and individual scientists who have worked in the area. 3. The frequent difficulties in the identificatron of villages and towns due to either phonetically sinilar nanes or inconsistent spellings have been practically eliminated through the provision of additional geographical markers of identificatlon. This method and the listing of the villages according to the admlnlstratlve sub- divisions wiIl help the pubtic health administrators In each country to nake full use of the information provided in this annex. 4. Certain adjustment procedures had to be used to ensure a uniform presentatlon of data that were based on different diagnostic crlteria. These are descr:.bed in detail in Annex IV-I which is concerned wlth the epidemiological features of onchocerciasis in the Volta Rlver Basin area. .\nnex I \r-2 frage 2 2 . Farmers respond to the negative influence of CC by implementing Climate change different adaptation strategies, where choices are informed by many factors. This study aims at analyzing the Livestock adaptation strategies of cattle farmers in the dry tropical zone (DTZ) and sub-humid tropical zone (STZ) of Benin Benin with regard to climate change, as well as the determinants for the choice of these strategies. For that matter, 360 Agricultural science Biological sciences cattle farmers were surveyed. Data collected were related to the demographic and socio-economic characteristics Earth sciences of the cattle farmers, their perception and adaptation to CC. The data collected were subjected to frequency Environmental science analysis and binary logistic regression. The results showed that livestock farmers were partly aware of climate Social sciences related with CC, especially the increase of temperature.

Méthodologie et résultats : la démarche méthodologique a consisté à cartographier, avec le logiciel ArcGIS 10.4, les infrastructures pastorales et à faire une enquête socioéconomique de la perception des transhumants sur la situation et la gestion des couloirs.

Read Full License Page 2/26 Abstract Background: Climate variability inuence the diversity and abundance of malaria vectors and thereby on malaria transmission dynamics. Examine its effect on Anopheles parameters involved in transmission may predict the potential malaria hotspot as a right target for its control intervention strategies. Here, we investigated the inuence of meteorological parameters on the aggressiveness and infectivity of Anopheles in two health districts zones where IRS has been extended in Northern Benin. Methods: Mosquito collections were carried out using human landing catches to evaluate rates of aggression and infectivity in twelve villages. Concomitantly, meteorological data from synoptic stations of Benin and neighbouring countries were collected in 2016-2017. Results: The spatial distribution of infective bites of An. gambiae is characterized by an intense aggression in the rural villages of the study area. Analysis of variances showed signicant HBR difference according to the period but not according to the locality.
