Featuring the Arqana August Sale and DBS Premier Sales 2 Deauville Thursday, August 13, 2015 racingpost.com
Your essential sales digest in one compact package
UROPE’S two big summer yearling sales in Deauville and E Doncaster each have their own unique character and take place in very different locations. Where they don’t vary is they both boast an impressive roster of winning graduates. Dewhurst Stakes hero Belardo and UAE Derby winner Mubtaahij were bought at the Arqana August Yearling Sale, while the DBS Premier Yearling Sales has lived up to its reputation as a fine source of fast, precocious performers with plenty of class as Illuminate, Kachy and Tiggy Wiggy demonstrate. Arqana this year takes place with the frisson of the first Frankel yearlings to come under the hammer, the debut European yearlings by Australian megastar sire Redoute’s Choice and a sister to dual Arc heroine Treve on offer. Expect a strong international buying bench in Deauville to take advantage of the weak euro. Pedigrees are not the focal point at Doncaster, but you can bet the catalogue, full of sharply bred sorts, is chock-full of individuals with powerful physiques. Bonne chance and/or good luck spotting the next Belardo or Tiggy Wiggy.
