DAY 1 - ARRIVAL TOKYO Full day walking tour of the popular western districts of Tokyo. Begin the tour in tranquillity visiting the wooded grounds of Shrine and then move on to explore the most popular shopping and entertainment districts of Tokyo including Shinjuku, Shibuya and harajuka. This itinerary takes you on a full day walking tour of Tokyo’s popular western districts. Starting at the tranquil, wooded grounds of Meiji Shrine, the plan moves on to explore urban Shinjuku, Shibuya and Harajuku, some of the city’s most popular shopping and entertainment districts.

DAY 2 - TOKYO In contrast to day one, experience the historical districts of Tokyo including temples and narrow shopping streets. Experience different modes of travel on the Tokyo Water Bus and the Yurikamome elevated train for travel between the districts.

DAY 3 - HAKONE Travel to Hakone and spend the night there. An area known for its hot springs, museums and the view of nearby Mt. Fuji.

DAY 4 - 6 Travel from Hakone to Kyoto and stay for four nights. Kyoto was once the capital of Japan and is well known for its many Buddhist temples, shrines, imperial palaces, traditional wooden homes and beautiful gardens.

DAY 7 - SIDE TRIP TO On a side trip from Kyoto, visit Nara. Japan’s first permanent capital is home to some of the oldest and largest temples in the country.

DAY 8 - MIYAJIMA VIA Take the Shinkansen (known as the bullet train) from Kyoto to Miyajima and visit Himeji Castle along the way. Miyajima is a small island on Hiroshima Bay, known for its forests and ancient temples. Experience a traditional on Miyajima.

DAY 9 - KANAZAWA VIA HIROSHIMA Take the ferry back to the historically important city of Hiroshima and see the sights of the city before travelling on to Kanazawa.

DAY 10 - KANAZAWA Spend a full day in Kanazawa and visit Kenrokuen, considered one of Japan’s three most beautiful landscaped gardens.

DAY 11 - SHIRAKAWAGO Travel to the historic village of Shirakawago, a UNESCO world heritage site, famous for its traditional gassho-zukuri farmhouses. Experience the village and stay overnight in this traditional accommodation offering.

DAY 12 - TAKAYAMA Travel to the beautifully preserved old town of Takayama in Gifu Prefecture with its narrow streets and wooden merchants houses. The town is famous for its biannual Takayama Festival, dating back to at least the mid-1600s.

DAY 13 - TAKAYAMA TO TOKYO Final day of the tour to experience more of Takayama before returning to Tokyo.
