On Friday, Springer A added two more golds, bringing his medal total to five for the Senior Games, all of them gold. “It’s quite a satisfaction,” said Springer of his suc- cess. Not only is Springer still winning medals, he is also breaking records. Springer has set three American re- cords at this year’s Games, the most recent coming on Friday in the 200m dash, which Springer completed in one minute and 5.55 seconds. That time beat all but one of the four 90-94 competitors as well. Springer has also demonstrated great range in both running distance and skill set, competing the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and the long jump, and has earned golds in each. His other event on Friday was the 800m, which Springer completed in 6 minutes and 45.13 sec- onds. Springer did not pick up running until he turned 64, but has since had 31 years to hone his craft. Until four years ago, Springer ran three miles every other day. However, he developed cancer in 2005.
