Albertsons Boise Open Gives

$924,564.50 to Boise Charities Boise Open Release Over 70 Non-Profits Benefit in 2006

Boise, December 14, 2006: The Albertsons Boise Open presented by First Health announced today that donations from this year’s tournament have reached a new high for donations to Boise area non-profit organizations, distributing over $924,000 to charity at a luncheon hosted today by SUPERVALU at The Grove Hotel. This is a twenty-five percent (25%) increase over the 2005 amount of $738,000 distributed to Boise area charities. The tournament has now exceeded over $5 million to charity since its inception in 1990.

The tournament’s twelve primary beneficiaries collectively received $300,000, with each receiving an equal share of $25,000. The primary beneficiaries include: Computers for Kids, Giraffe Laugh Childcare & Montessori Preschool, Community Foundation, Life's DoorWays, Neighborhood Housing Services, Opera Idaho, Original Gangsters Basic Academy of Delinquency, Shepherd's Home, Soroptimist International of Boise, Discovery Center of Idaho, First Tee of Idaho, and Salvation Army of Ada County.

Albertsons and the tournament also provided Boise area non-profit organizations with the opportunity to sell tournament tickets and retain 100% of the proceeds for their causes through the Sara Lee Tickets FORE Charity campaign. Additionally, Albertsons and Sara Lee provided a bonus pool of $50,000, which was distributed among the participating charities based on each charity’s sales. Over fifty non-profit organizations participated in the Sara Lee Tickets FORE Charity promotion and generated $433,564.50 in ticket sales in 2006. This represents a 59% increase in ticket sales over the 2005 results. When combined with the Bonus Pool, the charitable donations generated from the Sara Lee Tickets FORE Charity campaign totaled $488,564.50.

The Kraft/Nabisco Shoot-Out featured the battle of the broadcasters with Hall of Famer along with PGA TOUR veterans Lanny Wadkins, Gary McCord, Roger Maltbie and. In recognition of the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 tragedy, the beneficiaries for this year’s Kraft/Nabisco Shoot-Out were the Idaho National Guard and Reserve Family Support Fund and the Boise Police Activities League. (Miller/Maltbie) dominated the nine-hole skins match winning $33,750.00 for the Boise Police Activities League while the CBS Broadcasters (Wadkins/McCord) won $16,250.00 for the Idaho National Guard and Reserve Family Support Fund.

The Rocky Mountain Section PGA Foundation, based in Eagle, Idaho, received a $30,000 donation to assist in the growth of junior activities and scholarships as well as funding educational programs for the PGA Golf Professionals and golfing public. In addition, RMS PGA received a $500 donation from The Idaho Statesman who sponsors the low Idaho Professional award each year in the tournament. Since no Idaho professionals made the cut this year, The Statesman has donated the $500 prize to the RMS PGA Foundation for their junior golf activities.

The tournament and Albertsons also continued the long-standing tradition of supporting the men’s and women’s golf teams at both the University of Idaho and Boise State University. Each school received $5,000 donations from this year’s tournament totaling $10,000.

Albertsons and the tournament announced additional donations of $17,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Idaho, $10,000 to the Caring Foundation, $16,000 to the Noon Optimist Club of Boise and $2,400 to The Bishop Kelly Foundation.

Lastly, the tournament announced Nationwide, the Tour’s umbrella sponsor, provided the First Tee Chapter of Idaho with an additional $5,000 donation to aid in the First Tee’s mission of impacting the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.

The Albertsons Boise Open presented by First Health is one of thirty-two tournaments throughout the , , Panama, and on the PGA TOUR’s Nationwide Tour. Last year, the PGA Tour, Champions Tour, and Nationwide Tour tournaments surpassed $1 Billion in charitable giving since the Tour's inception. In 2007, Nationwide Tour purses will approach $ 18 million.

Owned and operated by the PGA TOUR, the Nationwide Tour completed its 17th season in 2006. Nationwide, one of the world’s largest insurance and financial service providers, finished its fourth year as the umbrella sponsor of the Tour. The Top 25 money winners on the 2007 Nationwide Tour automatically earn playing privileges on the 2008 PGA TOUR.
