The People respond That is our will. Chief Consecrator Will you uphold Alan as bishop? The People respond We will. 8 The Chief Consecrator then says The Scriptures tell us that our Savior Christ spent the whole night in prayer before he chose and sent forth his twelve apostles. Likewise, the apostles prayed before they appointed Matthias to be one of their number. Let us, therefore, follow their examples, and offer our prayers to Almighty God before we ordain Alan for the work to which we trust the Holy Spirit has called him. All remain standing as the Persons appointed lead the Litany for Ordinations. The Litany for Ordinations For all members of your Church in their vocation and ministry, that they may serve you in a true and godly life, we pray to you, O Lord. Lord, hear our prayer. 9 For Katharine, our Presiding Bishop; for Tom and Gayle, our Bishops; for Barbara and Bud, retired Bishops of this Diocese; and for all bishops, priests, and deacons, that they may faithfully minister your Word and Sacraments, we pray to you, O Lord.
