the Town of Cobourg. Nestled along the north shore of Lake Ontario, Cobourg has been called “architecturally exquisite” with its tree lined streets, outstanding waterfront promenades and majestic historic homes. Victoria Hall, the heart of Cobourg, is the envy of many communities with its soaring clock tower, solid stonewalls and Corinthian columns. Since its first settlers in 1798, Cobourg has continued to grow and prosper. Around the turn of the century, wealthy American industrialists built superb summer homes in Cobourg, many of which still remain. Today, Cobourg enjoys yet another building boom as young families and business owners relocate here. Retirees find it to be more than a summer place, but a thriving community with a multitude of year round activities. Cobourg is a town for all seasons. In the Financial Post 2016 annual ranking of top entrepreneurial cities in Canada, Cobourg came in 10th in the smaller city category. The Town of Cobourg offers a superb business environment. Our location, just 75 miles east (110 kms) of Toronto, offers excellent transportation access including highway 401, mainline CN and CP rail as well as commuter and regular VIA rail passenger service.
