Archaeological Assessment CPM Cirencester : CPM , 2004, 22pp, figs, refs Work undertaken by: CPM A desk-based archaeological assessment was prepared in advance of a proposed prison extension. No archaeological remains were recorded within the site itself, but a number of burials of probable early medieval date had been recorded 'at the prison' during previous works. The assessment indicated that similar archaeological finds and subsurface features relating to an Anglo-Saxon cemetery may have survived within the study area. Information suggested that previous finds had been made on the south- western side of the prison. Further archaeological mitigation was recommended. The report also contained a previous watching brief (May 2004) report carried out during test pitting and borehole excavation. This part of Barnsley remained undeveloped throughout the 18th and early 19th centuries when the street plan of 1823 indicated that no significant structures occupied the site. Archaeological remains of the former foundry, timber yard and station buildings may have survived at this site.

We have ambitious plans to improve and grow as identified in our Corporate Plan for 2017-2020. This sets out what we aim to achieve over the next three years to improve outcomes for our customers and the community as we strive to become more customer focused, modern, efficient and business minded. We're still focused on achieving our three key priorities: Thriving and vibrant economy People achieving their potential Strong and resilient communities We still feel that these areas warrant greater attention, emphasis, and possibly resources, to influence other areas of activity and make the greatest impact overall. The council will concentrate resources to make the most impact by providing services where they are most needed and we'll help people to do more for each other and their community. To do this, we need a solid evidence base to develop effective interventions which will help to achieve a ‘Better Barnsley’. The data within this report are from the latest available as of May 2018. This information is intended to stimulate discussion, debate and action to support Area Councils and Ward Alliances to identify some of their strategic priorities on an area basis and commission services to meet these challenges. This profile compares the Ward with the overall Barnsley figure and that of England where possible.

Hunningley Primary School Hunningley Lane Stairfoot Barnsley South Yorkshire S70 3DT Telephone: 01226 284867 Dear Parents / Carers, Covid-19 Update I am writing to thank all families for the way that everyone is following the guidance on social distancing and ensuring that we are all able to make the most of the school day within the constraints of what we are able safely to do. Of course, Covid-19 is still widespread across the country and, when individual cases do occur within the school community, we will not hesitate to take the advice of Public Health England (PHE) and adopt any additional steps they ask us to take. Over the summer, as you will know, we put in place a raft of measures to ensure effective social distancing and hygiene in order to minimise any impact of the virus within school. At present, we have just been notified about one member of our school community who has tested positive for Covid-19. They are within our Year 1T Class bubble and are now self-isolating at home. There is no suggestion that this was caused in school, but it does reflect a rise in community cases locally and around the country. As soon as we became aware of this, we contacted Public Health England (PHE) for it’s advice and guidance. PHE has advised us that only those pupils and staff who have been in very close and prolonged proximity to the individual need to isolate. We have therefore contacted some pupils in Year 1 who, as a precaution, will now need to self- isolate, as well as a handful of staff members.
