Cycle with Friends – The Central Rail Trail

Day One You will be picked up from Queenstown and transported to Clyde. Collect your Cycle Surgery Hire Bikes and have a ride around Clyde before settling into your accommodation for the night. Enjoy an evening meal at one of Clyde’s great restaurants

Day Two After breakfast, set off at your own pace. Cycle 37km from Clyde to Omakau, approximately 4 hours cycling. Enjoy lunch at the Chatto Creek Tavern before cycling up Tiger Hill (the steepest climb on the Rail Trail – just remember it is not that steep – trains used to go up it!). It is then downhill into Omakau.

Day Three Today you will cycle through one of the most picturesque sections of the Rail Trail - The Poolburn Gorge. Make sure you carry plenty of snacks and water today. Today’s cycle will see you cycle either 29km to Oturehua or 41km to Wedderburn. The highest point on the is just before Wedderburn – down hill from here!

Day Four Today you will cycle through the heart of the Maniototo – known as Big Sky Country! You will cycle either 33km to or 46km to Hyde.

Day Five Today you will cycle either 51km from Waipiata to Middlemarch or 27km from Hyde to Middlemarch. You will cycle through the picturesque upper and alongside The . From Hyde you will cycle through the heart of the Strath Taieri Valley to Middlemarch. Celebrate cycling 152km in Middlemarch before heading to or alternatively back to Queenstown
