@CAL_FIRE @CALFIRE INCIDENT FACTS Incident Start Date: 09/04/2020 Incident Start Time: 6:33 p.m. Incident Type: Wildland Fire Cause: Under Investigation Incident Location: Both sides of the near Mammoth Pool, Shaver Lake, Big Creek and Huntington Lake. Forest/CAL FIRE Units: , CAL FIRE Units Fresno-Kings and Madera-Mariposa-Merced Unified Command Agencies: Great Basin Team 1, CAL FIRE 1, Fresno County Sheriff, Madera County Sheriff Size: 305,204 Containment: 44% Firefighter Injuries/Fatalities: 1 injury Expected Full Containment: 10/31/2020 Structures Threatened: 4,576 Structures Destroyed: 855* Structures Damaged: 71* CURRENT SITUATION Current Weather Information: Situation: Above average temperatures, lower humidity and light terrain driven winds primarily from the south and southwest are expected to continue over the next several days. These conditions combined with dry fuels across the fire area will allow for flare ups and some spotting, short distances, where conditions align.

Fresno County: SOUTH ZONE With the change in weather conditions, yesterday saw more active fire behavior on the eastern portion of the fire near the 80 Road and Potter Pass. The goal is to keep the fire north of Kaiser Pass. As the fire moves into the Wilderness and sparser fuels, progression is expected to slow.

Fire crews will continue to patrol containment lines, mopping up, treating hot spots and increasing the depth of the line. Structure defense is also occurring as a precaution. Containment remains a priority, and hand crews will be deployed in areas where heavy equipment (i.e. dozers) cannot be utilized due to steep terrain. Madera County: NORTH ZONE Crews continue to hold, mop up and strengthen the southern and western containment line. Yesterday, a two acre slop over was quickly incorporated into the fire line and a one acre spot fire west of Whiskey Falls Campground was also contained with the help of helicopter water drops. East of Central Camp and south of Little Shuteye Peak continues to be monitored, the fire is still hung up in the rocks in the same location as it has been for the last nine days. In the Ansel Adams Wilderness, spot fires are occurring on the northwest side of

the fire, torching pockets of vegetation interspersed within the granite. Very light fire activity is occurring on the northern end of the fire.

Removal of hazardous standing dead trees continues along the primary roads within the fire area including the 81 Road and the Grizzly Road. The structure protection group is working throughout the fire area including in the Johnson Meadow area.

The fire is still 10-12 miles west of Mammoth Lakes, no forward progression is occurring due to the natural barriers of rock and the (2018) burn scar which help to limit fire spread on the north-eastern flank. Conditions continue to be monitored very closely by emergency officials. Cattle in and around the fire area are being rounded up and moved. Be aware of cattle, those working with them, fire personnel and other hazardous conditions when returning to the fire area once it re-opens.

Please respect the Temporary Flight Restriction. The use of drones is not permitted over the fire area. A drone incursion will result in the grounding of all firefighting aircraft.
