Sree Vidyanikethan has been truly reflecting the academic excellence since 1992, when the first brick was laid for the noble cause of imparting quality education to one and all. Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Institutions stands for academic excellence and education of the whole person beyond the curriculum, within a framework of ethical, disciplined, student centric teaching. Principal’s Message

Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College, established in 1996 with an initial intake of 180 students to serve the cause of technical education in the backward region of Rayalaseema has grown exponentially with an intake of 2232 students in 2014-15. The College now offers 9 B.Tech programs; 8 M.Tech programs; MCA Program and 2 Doctoral Programs. AICTE has accorded permission to run 2nd Shift Polytechnic from the academic year 2009-10.

The College is located in a sprawling campus of about 30 acres, amidst sylvan surroundings with aesthetically built infrastructure. The College is approved by AICTE and affiliated to JNTU Anantapur. The College is known for its quality initiatives which is reflected in accreditations by NBA and many multinational organizations such as TCS and IBM. SVEC is selected for participation in TEQIP-II under Sub-component 1.1: Strengthening Institutions to improve Learning Outcomes and Employability of Graduates, funded by the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of . The College has been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore for a period of 5 Years with a CGPA of 3.11 on a four point scale at A Grade valid from 23-03-2013.

The College is accorded Autonomous Status by the UGC, New Delhi from the Academic Year 2010- 2011.

At Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College the Vision and Mission impelled the Management to make the students good citizens, in addition to training them as knowledge workers and wholesome personalities. We provide congenial environment for the students to have imagination, creativity and enthusiasm.

The College is committed to enhance the quality of education and introduce demand–driven career oriented programs for the benefit of students and to equip them with life skills to face the challenges in fast changing global scenario. National MEMS Design Centre

National MEMS Design Center (NMDC) fosters the culture of research in the direction of Micro/Nano Electromechanical Systems (MEMS/NEMS). These activities are grouped into the following categories: A) Academic Projects B) Training Programs C) Expert Lectures D) Workshops/Conferences/Symposia

A list of these activities is given hereunder:

A) M.Tech Projects during the Year 2014-15 Students were encouraged to undertake Simulation projects using the sophisticated software packages available in the NMDC. DST-FIST Project Based on the recommendations of the FIST Advisory Board (FISTAB), the College was sanctioned an amount of Rs. 20 lakhs under DST-FIST Program (Level-0). An amount of Rs. 9.5 lakhs was released during the Academic Year 2013-14 to augment research facilities. EMI-EMC setup was procured and installed. The procurement process (with 50-50 cost sharing) was completed with the sanction of matching grant from the Institution. Students and members of faculty are availing this facility for project works / research.

Financial Support:

PG Scholarships GATE: Fifty Nine students pursuing M.Tech, who have joined through GATE qualification received AICTE PG scholarships for an amount of Rs.56.64 lakhs.

TEQIP Support: Sixty five M.Tech students received teaching assistantships for an amount of Rs.20.80 lakhs under TEQIP-II and also one research assistantship (Ph.D) was awarded @ Rs.18,000/- per month (for 8 months).

Poor Students’ Welfare Fund

An amount of Rs.1.6 lakhs was sanctioned to 32 poor and deserving students (Rs. 5000/- each) from the Poor Students Welfare Fund. Fee Concessions and Financial Support by SVET The Management extends financial support to the poor and deserving students. During 2014-2015, fee concessions and waivers to the tune of Rs.19,07,200/- were given by Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust. About 93 students got benefitted.

Placement and Training

Placement and Training Centre has been active in conducting training and arranging placements for the benefit of the students.

A.TRAINING

The following training programs were conducted during the year 2014-15 :

1. Training programme conducted on communication skills for III B.Tech students: The Centre conducted classes on communication skills for all the students of III B.Tech from 02-07-2014 to 01-11-2014, for preparing them to face the interviews effectively.

2. Intensive Campus Placement Related Training Programme was conducted by Professional External Trainers for final year students as per the dates mentioned below:

Tech: The Centre has been conducting On-line learning and assessment tests on Placement related Training for final year students of B.Tech (all branches) and M.Tech (All branches) to enhance the skills required for Campus Recruitments. This programme was organized for a period of six months with effect from 29-09-2014.

5. Training programme on verbal ability for III B.Tech students: PAT Centre organized a training program on Verbal Ability for all the branches of III B.Tech students from 08-12-2014 to 11-04-2015.

Training programme is being conducted on communication skills as well as soft skills for II & III year Diploma students: The Centre conducted classes on communication skills as well as Soft Skills for II & III year Diploma students from 11-12-2014 to 27-03-2015 to improve their proficiency in English language soft skills.

7. Campus Placement Related Skills (CPRS) training program – Phase I was conducted for III B.TECH. (IT, CSSE, ME, EIE & ECE) students from 15-12-2014 to 06-02-2015.

8. CPRS training program – Phase II was conducted for III B.TECH. (CSE, Civil, EEE, EConE) & II MCA from 16-02-2015 to 11-04-2015.

B. WORKSHOPS / FDP :

1. A session on “Enhancing Employability Skills” by Mr. Shiva Prasad Tammishetti, HR Manager, Cognizant Technology Solutions was arranged on 07-07-2014 for all final year B.Tech students. In addition, Placement and Training Centre conducted Cognizant Certified Student Programme (CCSP) Assessment test in IT Foundation Skills for final year students of IV B.Tech, III MCA and I M.Tech.

2. A workshop on “Employability Skills and Technology Expectations” by Mr. Chandrasekhar Jonnalagadda, Academic Relationship Manager, TATA Consultancy Services was arranged on 09-07-2014 for IV B.Tech, II MCA & I M.Tech students.

3. Faculty Development Programme on “Intellectual Property Rights” with emphasis on Patents and Copyrights by Mr. K.V. Satyanarayana, Academic Relationship Manager, TATA Consultancy Services was organized on 10-07-2014.

NSS National Service Scheme (NSS) unit has on its rolls 100 student volunteers who actively participate in service oriented activities. Graduation Day The Third Graduation Day of SVEC was organized in a befitting manner on 05th July, 2014 on the College premises. Dr. M.Y.S. Prasad, Distinguished Scientist & Director, Satish Dhawan Space Centre Sriharikota High Altitude Range (SDSC-SHAR), Sriharikota delivered the convocational address as the Chief Guest.

Dr. M. Mohan Babu, Chairman, SVET; Guest of Honour, Sri , CEO, SVET and Prof. P.V. Sathyanarayana, Representative of JNTUA were present during the event.

About 698 B.Tech graduates received their certificates on the occasion.

Teachers’ Day The Teachers’ Day celebrated on 05th September, 2014 assumed special significance with the unveiling of the statue of Sri Manchu Narayanaswamy Naidu garu, humanist and visionary, inspiring teacher; and illustrious father of Dr. M. Mohan Babu, Chairman, Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust (SVET) by Dr. K.I. Vara Prasad Reddy, Padma Bhushan awardee and Founder & Chairman, Shantha Biotechnics Ltd., Hyderabad in the presence the family members of Late Sri Manchu Narayanaswamy Naidu garu, a galaxy of intellectuals, members of faculty, distinguished invitees and a huge gathering of students.

Engineers’ Day Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College celebrated 47th Engineers’ Day on 15th September 2014 in a befitting manner. The members of faculty paid rich tributes to Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya for his invaluable services to the nation and also deliberated on the role of engineers in Nation Development.

Freshers’ Day Freshers’ Day of Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College was celebrated on 01st November, 2014 with pomp and gaiety in the august presence of Prof. W. Rajendra, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati the Chief Guest; Dr. M. Mohan Babu, Chairman, Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust and other distinguished invitees.

Mohana Mantra Mohana Mantra, a National Techno-Cultural Fest, brain child of Sri Vishnu Manchu, CEO, SVET was organized during 30th & 31st Oct. and 1st Nov. 2014 and about 20,000 students participated and shared their skills and expertise in various co-curricular and extracurricular activities for their mutual benefit and advancement.

Hudhud Cyclone Relief The catastrophe (Hudhud) that struck the coastal districts (in particular Vizag) on 12th October, 2014 has ravaged properties and dislocated normal life. The Management, members of faculty, staff and students extended their helping hand by actively participating in relief work besides liberal contributions in cash and kind.

Swachh Bharat ‘Swachh Bharat’ program, the brain child of Sri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, was formally inaugurated by Dr. M. Mohan Babu, Hon’ble Chairman, SVET on 19th November, 2014 at A.Rangampet, a nearby village. About 12,500 persons comprising of students, members of faculty and staff participated in the Program with youthful fervor and commitment, and the spirit is still on to maintain the neighborhood clean.

Medical Camp As an outreach activity under Rural Health Scheme, a Medical Camp was inaugurated by Sri Vishnu Manchu, CEO, SVET on 5th December, 2014. A Committee of doctors examined and treated nearly 650 people from 5 villages. Free medicines were supplied for Anemia, Arthritis, Diabetes, Eye infections, Hyper Tension, Malaria and skin diseases.

Annual Sports Day Annual Sports Day was organized on a grand scale on 9th January, 2015 with Smt. Sailaja Kiron, Managing Director, Margadarsi as the Chief Guest. Sri Nagineedu Vellanki, a promising actor, General Manager, Prasad Film Laboratories (P) Ltd., Hyderabad and Dr. M. Mohan Babu, Hon’ble Chairman, SVET also graced the occasion.

Alumni Meet–2015 Recall (Alumni Meet – 2015) of Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Institutions was organized on 10th January 2015 in Dasari Auditorium, SVEC Campus. Dr. M. Mohan Babu, Hon’ble Chairman, Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust presided over the Meet. Smt. D. Haritha, an alumna and presently, Deputy Collector, Kadapa district was the Chief Guest. Hon’ble Chairman inaugurated the official website of ‘Recall’ in the presence of the dignitaries, Alumni and members of faculty on that day.

Women’s Day International Womens’ Day was organized by the lady faculty members of the College on 8th March, 2015. The speakers cited several instances where the women have made an impact on gender justice and quality of life of women in the society.

Annual Day The Annual Day celebrations of Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Institutions were celebrated with fervor and enthusiasm on 19th March 2015. Prof. P. Rama Rao, Padma Vibhushan awardee, former Vice-Chancellor, University of Hyderabad and presently Chairman Governing Council, International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy & New Materials (ARCI), Hyderabad was the Chief Guest. Dr. A.V. Gurava Reddy, Chief Joint Replacement Surgeon and HOD, Sunshine Bone and Joint Institute, Sunshine Hospitals, Secunderabad; Sri U.V. Krishnam Raju, Producer and Popular Movie Artiste; Prof. D. Narayana Rao, Director (Research), SRM University, Chennai; Sri Deva Katta, Movie Director and Ms.Praneetha, Film actress were among the dignitaries. Hon’ble Chairman Dr. M. Mohan Babu in his address expressed his gratitude to the dignitaries who graced the occasion to bless the students of Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Institutions. Sri. Vishnu Manchu, Chief Executive Officer, Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust, Sri Manoj Manchu, Film Artiste and Ms. , Popular film artiste and film producer added splendor and cheerfulness to the mega evening function. Cultural events presented by the students on the occasion enthralled the huge audience who enjoyed the proceedings.

Parents’ Meet Parents Meet was conducted on 03rd April, 2015. About 400 parents attended the programme and interacted with the respective Student Counselors and HODs. Feedback from parents on the facilities and systems was conducted.
