FURTHER INFORMATION SNOWDON TRIPLE CHALLENGE ______

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY

MEDIUM The Snowdon Triple Challenge is graded as medium. This is the ideal event for participants who are of an adventurous spirit and an open mind, but potentially haven’t taken on a multi-activity challenge before. Participants do not need to be an expert cyclist or kayaker, just someone with a willing sense of adventure to explore the epic Snowdonia landscape.

You can tell your sponsors that on your Snowdon Triple Challenge you will be: • Cycling around the undulating Welsh landscape – 12 miles • Climbing to the summit of Snowdon – 10 miles & 1,085m in elevation • Kayaking across Llyn Padarn – 2.5 miles (weather dependent)

A full day of activity, transferring from one activity to the next with just enough time to refuel and change clothes.

TERRAIN The terrain on this challenge varies throughout and can be rough at times, so preparation is ideal! • Cycling leg – undulating course with one steep climb • Trekking leg – summiting Snowdon which involves some steep ascents & descents and rocky terrain • Kayaking leg – you will start your kayaking leg in a sheltered bay before heading out onto the lake in order to practice your paddling skills. Sweeping close to the lake shore, you will paddle the length of the lake and back which can prove challenging due to the water flow.

CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT

Equipment of good-quality and durability could make the difference between a fantastic challenge experience and an uncomfortable one. Participants kit will be transferred from each of the transition points in the support van.

Cycling leg Hire bikes and helmets will be provided. Your bike will be sized according to your height. All bikes will be transferred from the cycling/trekking transition point back to the hotel for secure storage.

Trekking leg Participants will have time to change from their cycling gear to trekking kit and leave kit in the support van. It is essential that all trekkers have a waterproof jacket and trousers, hiking boots, warm clothing and be prepared for all weather conditions on the mountain.

Kayaking leg All kayaking equipment will be provided including a buoyancy aid. Shoes must be worn during this challenge so it’s ideal to change back into your trainers as they will get wet.

WEATHER Please be prepared for all kinds of weather conditions from warm sunshine to cold wet weather. Despite your event being in Summer, the weather is unpredictable in Snowdonia, particularly in the mountains.
