MAHS has a mandatory dress code for all middle and high school students (effective
the first day of school). To help create the best learning environment for students,
2017-2018 the following standards for student dress must be observed.
During the school day, on or off campus, students not following the MAHS dress Uniform Policy code will not be suspended from class until corrected.

Clothing, jewelry or hairstyles that draw attention to an individual rather than the classroom is unacceptable. In matters of opinion, the judgment of the principal/designee shall prevail. Only MAHS jackets/sweaters may be worn during the school day. Hoodies may NOT be worn. Students may wear solid white or black T-shirt, turtle neck or undergarment. Clothing should not have any visible logos or print other than the MAHS logo. No inappropriate or graphic language should be displayed on any clothing items. Belts must be solid black or brown. “Sagging pants” are not allowed and must be worn at the waist at all times. Undergarments should not be visible at any time. No bandanas, hairnets, skullcaps, flower head bands. Sunglasses, hats, scarves, and other headwear are not to be worn in the building except for religious or medical reasons. Girls may only wear white, black, or gold hair accessories. Shoes must be worn. No house shoes, flips flops, shower shoes, and sling backs. No long earrings or multiple bangle bracelets. Large bracelets, earrings, and necklaces are not permissible.
Guidelines for Girls Hair color must be in natural form. Hairstyles or unnatural hair colors that, in the judgment of the school administrator, cause a disruption of the educational environment are not allowed. (ex. of unnatural color: red, blue, purple, and orange) Dresses, skirts, skorts, and shorts must extend to or below the student’s fingertips when their arms are held to their sides, regardless of any or all clothing that may be worn underneath the dress, skirt or shorts. Heels on shoes/boots should not exceed and ½ inch. Socks-solid black, brown or white. NO GRAPHICS. Tights, leggings, and socks may be worn with the skirt or skort in the following colors: black or white.
Guidelines for Boys No earrings of any kind-which includes straws, sticks, whole fillers, bandages to cover just pierced ears. No draw string pants. Socks-solid black, brown or white. NO GRAPHICS. Shorts should come to the knee. No large bracelets, watches, or necklaces that are a distraction and interfere with student learning.
This uniform policy will be strictly enforced. Violation of the policy will result in disciplinary action.
