It’s going to be an outdoor Summer. As both retail and hospitality prepare to reopen for business, we must consider how they can operate safely under the Plan for Living with COVID-19.

With Ireland holidaying at home in 2021 there is an opportunity, through outdoor dining, to provide new ways of delivering the hospitality experience that Fingal is famous for. Outdoor dining can also enhance our way of life. In addition to serving the local community, it can attract visitors and footfall to other Malahide businesses. This will keep our local economy alive and local people employed.

Fingal is working with businesses in all areas of Malahide to enable them to operate in the public realm. Businesses have been invited to apply for licences which will allow them to manage outdoor dining outside their premises and may include the provision of parklets in unpedestrianised areas. There are also grants available to enable businesses to purchase outdoor furniture.
