  • Rankin V. Rodham
Rankin v. Rodham: The Difference between Shattering and Cracking the !2 It’s Tuesday, November 7th of the year 1916. Jeannette Rankin has just successfully won her campaign in running for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. This achievement makes her the very first woman to ever serve in Congress. The precedence of this achievement is only emphasized by the fact that the people of Montana elected her into Congress four years before the 19th amendment, that allowed women across the country to vote, had been ratified. Rankin had just made history, and her legacy had only just begun. Flash forward to almost exactly one hundred years from that historic date. It’s Tuesday, November 8th of the year 2016. This is the first year in American history where a woman is the presidential nominee of a major political party.1 Hillary Rodham Clinton is the Democratic Party candidate, and she seems to be the clear winner of this election. She’s an experienced woman of privilege who is going head-to- head with the inexperienced, well-placed Republican Party candidate Donald Trump. With Clinton’s outstanding credentials, such as a law degree from Yale Law School, and her immense involvement in politics throughout her life, like holding the position of Secretary of State for the United States, one would think that she would be the obvious choice to preside over the country, right?2 As the American people were casting their votes and television networks across the country were broadcasting this historic election taking place, one could almost hear the cracks in one of the highest, hardest glass ceilings begin to form.

HILLARY CLINTON? ? ? “Thanks in no? small part to Judicial Watch, Hillary Clinton may be the most investigated person in the history of the Republic.” -Margaret Carlson of TIME Magazine ow that Hillary Clinton is an official candidate for President of the United NStates, the American people will take a long, hard look at her record. And any discussion of Hillary Clinton’s record begins and ends with her crimes and ethical transgressions. Judicial Watch, of course, has been pursuing both Hillary and Bill Clinton since its inception, launching numerous investigations and lawsuits. However, despite clear evidence of Clinton corruption, so many questions remain unanswered. If Judicial Watch were given an opportunity to interview Hillary Clinton, here are the ten (plus) questions we would ask first: ?? Who in the Clinton administration devised the plan to sell taxpayer- 1 financed trade missions in exchange for campaign contributions to the Clinton-Gore 1996 re-election campaign? Sworn testimony from Nolanda Hill, partner and confidante of the late Clinton Commerce Secretary Ron Brown, points to you as mastermind of the scheme. 2 Why did you give “factually false” testimony under oath in the investigation of the White House Travel Office firings, as former Independent Counsel Robert Ray stated in his final report. Ray said his office found “overwhelming evidence” you played a role in the dismissals of the seven longtime employees in the White House travel office, which you denied under oath. 3 Who hired former bar bouncer Craig Livingstone and ordered him to illegally obtain for the Clinton administration the FBI files of former staffers in the administrations of Ronald Reagan and George H.

  • Proverbs in the Personal and Political Writings of Hillary Rodham Clinton
    M. Liugaitė-ČerniauskienėFOLKLORO. BALADĖ RAIŠKA: APIE BAUDŽIAMĄ KALBA IRDUKTERĮ... VAIZDAS “Politics is not a Spectator Sport”: Proverbs in the Personal and Political Writings of Hillary Rodham Clinton WOLFGANG MIEDER University of Vermont ABSTRACT. Hillary Rodham Clinton is a thoughtful proverbial stylist in her books It Takes a Village and Other Lessons Children Teach Us (1996), Living History (2003), and Hard Choices (2014). Just as other politicians, she too has attempted to formulate concise statements that have the possibility of becoming familiar quotations and perhaps even proverbs. Being a world traveler she has picked up foreign proverbs which she incorporates into her communications with appropriate introductory formulas. But she also draws special attention to English language proverbs, changing some of them to expressive antiproverbs. She appreciates the fact that the complex interplay of proverbs and political language is of great importance as she writes to communicate her thoughts on American political history and the future role that the United States might play in the world. In doing so, she does not employ proverbs as an ideological instrument but rather as a linguistic tool to enhance her often quite factual prose with vivid metaphors. Looking at her instantiation of proverbs shows the fundamental polysituativity, polyfunctionality, and polysemanticity of proverbs in actual contexts. Each proverb occurrence offers new insights into her being, her reflections, and her aspirations for herself and for her country. Whatever one might think of her political agenda, she most certainly has proven herself to be an engaged and experienced leader in the United States and on the world stage.

The Washington Post Obituaries Tony Rodham, the youngest brother of Hillary Clinton, dies at 64 Correction: An earlier version of this obituary included two photographs that did not depict Mr. Rodham. The story has been updated to include an accurate photograph. By Associated Press June 9 Tony Rodham, the youngest brother of Hillary Clinton, died June 7 at 64. The former U.S. senator, secretary of state, first lady and Democratic presidential candidate announced the death on Twitter but did not disclose other details. Mr. Rodham held a variety of jobs over the years, including stints as a prison guard, insurance salesman, repo man, private detective and business investor. He attended but never graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College and the University of Arkansas. While brother-in-law Bill Clinton was president, Mr. Rodham worked on the Democratic National Committee as an outreach coordinator. He also became one of the few people to get married at the White House. He wed Nicole Boxer, the daughter of former U.S. senator Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), in the Rose Garden in 1994. Mr. Rodham and his brother, Hugh Rodham, were notable for drawing unwelcome controversy to the Clinton administration. The White House in 1999 had to publicly rebuke the brothers for a business venture in which they planned to export hazelnuts from the former Soviet Republic of Georgia with the help of Aslan Abashidze, the leading political rival of then-Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze, a Clinton ally. “If in fact this project is still going forward, we don’t approve and will continue to make clear to Georgian officials that this venture has no connection with or sanction from the U.S.
