Non- Muslim populations living within Muslim communities were granted peaceful and pros- perous life through guaranteeing security for both their lives and properties and were given the appellation of “ahl al Dhimma” which denotes those people with whom Muslims have an agreement or the responsibility of their personal safety and security of their property are undertaken by the Muslim state. The basic guidelines which were laid by the Prophet (PBUH) in the early stage in Madinah where he estab- lished a city-state formed a blue print of how Muslims should deal with Christians and Jews among many other adherents to different religions. Granting minority rights to different religious groups through pledges, documents and mutual agreements succeeded in creating a healthy atmosphere for the development of both spiritual and material growth of the different religious groups living under the Islamic rule. In order to achieve and grant full rights for different religious minorities living in Madinah, the Prophet (PBUH) initiated a historical charter which was later known as of Najran which was delivered to Christians of Najran new converts into Islam but actually was meant to rectify protection of the interests of the citizens and securing “the Charter of the Madinah”. and it surrounding area. the crooked way of looking and thinking of other human justice for all regardless of their colour or creed. By Alasdair Soussi Al Jazeera

he new British prime minis- ter, Theresa May, has enjoyed something of a honeymoon period since her elevation to the top job in July following Tthe resignation of her predecessor, David Cameron, after the United Kingdom’s decision to quit the European Union. But the Conservative Party leader put herself on a headlong collision with many of Britain’s human rights groups earlier this month after she announced plans for a British military opt-out to parts of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) during future conflicts - an entirely separate matter from the Euro- pean Union. This change in policy was officially announced by British Defence Secretary Michael Fallon at the October Conserva- tive Party conference where he said that such a reform would protect UK troops from “spurious” legal claims of military misconduct. The UK Ministry of Defence has spent over 100 million pounds ($123m) on Iraq- related investigations and compensation cases since 2004.
