Cowgirls Drop UAPB, 95-50

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State’s women’s basketball team improved to 10-1 on Monday night after knocking off Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 95-50, in front of 2,839 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. OSU’s defense once again proved stingy as the Lions (0-9) became the fifth-straight Cowgirl opponent to commit at least 20 turnovers. OSU converted UAPB’s 20 miscues into 20 points and held the Lions to a 29 percent shooting effort from the floor. With six minutes remaining in the first half, the Cowgirls held a 29-20 lead before using a 15-1 run to head into the break with a 23-point cushion. After going scoreless over the final 6:23 of the first, the Lions’ drought continued after the intermission. UAPB did not get on the board until 12:32 remained in the contest, while OSU scored the first 16 points to build the lead to 60-21. Senior Lakyn Garrison led a group of five double-figure scorers for the Cowgirls. The Wickes, Ark., native matched her career high with 20 points behind a 4-of-8 effort from the 3-point line. Fellow senior Precious Robinson logged her first double-double of the year with 13 points and 13 rebounds, both of which were season highs. Sophomore Toni Young, who was named the Big 12 Player of the Week on Monday, added 13 points in just 10 minutes, while a pair of freshmen also reached double figures. Vicky McIntyre scored 12 points on the evening and Tiffany Bias chipped in with 10 points to go with a team-high five assists. Sophomore Lindsey Keller narrowly missed her sec- ond double-double of the year, finishing with nine points and 10 boards. Arkansas-Pine Bluff vs Oklahoma State 12-27-10 7 p.m. at Stillwater, Okla.
