Ariel Ramirez Ariel Ramirez Tango is a musical project of an Argentinian vitruoso of bandoneon, Ariel Ramirez. At the age of 13 Ariel Ramirez started to learn to play the bandoneon, emblematic instrument of Argentinian tango and one of the most ones in the world. Now is one of very few bandoneonists in (around 1000 of them, literally a species in extinction). Before arriving to he cooperated with famous musicians of Argentinian folklore. He went on tour with his tango project to Chile, Bolivia, Brasil, Venezuela, Peru and Uruguay. The first to discover Ariel Ramirez’ talent was Nestor Garnica, a very well-known violinist and vocalist, awarded a scholarship in the University of Colonia () and Conservatory of Rotterdam (Holland), playing in Philharmonic Orchestra of Rotterdam. Ariel Ramirez integrated his group in 2005-2007. Ariel’s career sky-rocketed when he joined Los Carabajal, a legendary group of Argentinian folk musicians. A family from Santiago del Estero with 50-year tradition of being an icon of traditional music, released over 20 albums. In 2007-2009 Ramirez got to the top of popularity and performed throughout . Ramirez appeared with Los Carabajal in the Cosquin Folk Festival one of the most important folk music festivals of Argentina, and most important in Latin America. Throughout its history Cosquín has been the definitive place to leverage the success of the most important artists of the folk music of Argentina, including . In Europe, as a renowned bandoneonist, he was invited to perform with such artists as a Cuban vocalist El Muso (Buena Vista Social Club), a Spanish group Giulia y los Tellarini, Wiesław Przadka (a Polish acordeonist and bandoneonist) and Orchestra Simfonica Baltica. His album Aires was released in 2011 by Iberia Records and enthusiastically welcomed by the public and press. In autumn 2012 his second album Nuevos Aires will be available to public. Ariel Ramirez' show is a fascinating journey to and the golden era of traditional tango. During his concerts he performs the best pieces by contemporary composers, like Astor Piazzola, Carlos Gardel, Anibal Troilo. Also, in a very suggestive way he talks about the culture and art of tango and Argentinian music. The show is accompanied by visualizations and a dance show of tango. In April 2011 he appeared twice in the Philharmonic of Wroclaw with two concerts promoting his album Aires (© Iberia Records). The tickets sold out immediately and the public got wild for Ramirez’ interpretations of La Cumparsita, Para Vivir, Taquito Militar, Garganta Con Arena, Por una Cabeza, A Mi Manera or Canaro en Paris. Ariel Ramirez was also the central artist at the gala organized in the Puppet Theatre of Wroclaw by the most important diary of Poland, Gazeta Wyborcza, during which the prestigious title of The Ambassador of Wroclaw was awarded. Especially for the Puppet Theatre of Wroclaw, Ramirez wrote and directed his dance and musical artistic show called Cabaret La Boca, staged in recently reconstructed historical Old Town Garden. The musical and dance spectacle presented then, is a fascinating journey to the era of first tango milongas in Buenos Aires of the 20s and 30s 20th century. The performance is complimented by the appearance of an actor – mairtre of the cabaret, best-in-class tango dancers and a visualization made by the famous journalist, documentalist and traveler, Wojciech Popkiewicz. In 2011-2012 Ariel Ramirez realized his European tour in Poland, Italy and Germany, visiting the most prestigious folk, world-music and classical music festival, theatres and cultural centers. The artist created his own arrangements of traditional Argentinian tangos for two bandoneons and orchestra. This program was presented to public in autumn 2011 in a concert with Wiesław Prządka and Orchestra Simfonica Baltica. In 2012 Ariel Ramirez featured as a special guest the concerts of Giulia y los Tellarini, the group discovered by Woody Allen in his Oscar–nominated film Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Ramirez' composing project covers the series of themes dedicated to the city of Wroclaw, depicting The four seasons of Wroclaw. The premiere of Grey Wroclaw during the concert celebrating the election of Wroclaw as a European Capital of Culture 2016 was enthusiastically welcomed by the audience. Green Wroclaw will have its premiere with the album Nuevos Aires.
