Our city is host to a vibrant blend of arts and culture that is refl ected in the many free events listed in this brochure. Boston’s arts scene is second to none. This year we welcome new events such as Boston Calling and Outside the Box Festival and look forward to the return of ever popular events such as Boston Globe/ WGBH Summer Arts Weekend and the Boston Arts Festival. Trent Collection of Defoe and Defoeana. One the most comprehensive rare book collec- tions of Defoe’s works, the Trent Collection also features works that represent the early print culture of his time. The exhibi- tion provides insight into Defoe’s novels, his life as a writer, and the lively British culture that helped to give birth to this new art form. The free tours last about an hour and are given by volunteer guides. No appointment is necessary.
