Seven Sisters Apostolate “One Holy Hour, One Priest, Each Week, One Heart of Prayer”

Seven Sisters Apostolate is a ministry of intercessory prayer: Seven women commit to offering a Holy Hour exclusively for one of our parish priests. Each woman has a distinct day of the week; the commitment is to that day - at any time during that day - thus covering a complete week. The Hour is ideally prayed in the Presence of the Blessed Sacrament. The commitment to prayer is ideally for a period of one year (June - June). The Hour is offered solely for the intentions of the priest. Priests need and rely on our prayers.

This Apostolate will start in our Our Lady of Grace – St Bernard Parish. We have 7 women and need 28 more (7 for Fr Dave, 7 for Fr Ben, 7 for Fr Tom, 7 for Fr Mark, 7 for Deacon Fred). We also need substitutes should a ‘sister’ travel or get sick. We hope to fully begin by mid-June. Please prayerfully consider spending one hour a week with the Lord for our priests.

If you are interested in becoming a Seven Sister or want more information please contact Margi at 412-897-8279 and visit https://sevensistersapostolate.org.

Beloved Saint Visits Saint Bernard Roman Catholic Church on Monday, June 10

Saint Bernard Roman Catholic Church 311 Washington Road in Holy Mass at 7 P.M. Veneration begins at 3 P.M.

The Franciscan Friars invite you to join them in welcoming St. Anthony of Padua to Saint Bernard Roman Catholic Church. St. Anthony will be visiting you in the form of a precious and first-class relic from the Pontifical Basilica in Padua, Italy. The relic will be accompanied by Father Alessandro Ratti, one of fifty-four OFM Conventual Franciscan Friars who minister in the Basilica where the Saint is buried. This is the Franciscan order of St. Francis of Assisi. St. Francis and St. Anthony of Padua knew each other during their lifetime in the 13th century.

Pope Benedict Emeritus said of relics “By inviting us to venerate the mortal remains of the martyrs and saints, the Church does not forget that, in the end, these are indeed just human bones, but they are bones that belonged to individuals touched by the living power of God. The relics of the saints are traces of that invisible but real presence which sheds light upon the shadows of the world and reveals the Kingdom of Heaven in our midst.”

Prayer petitions with holy cards will be distributed by Friar Alessandro to allow parishioners to write their personal prayer petition to the saint. The writing of your intentions is a worldwide tradition when venerating a relic of a saint. Father Alessandro will bring the petitions back to the Basilica in Padua and place them at the tomb of St. Anthony. The tour officially ends back at the Tomb of St. Anthony where the Friars will gather to pray for the saint’s intercession upon our intentions and petitions.

To learn more about St. Anthony of Padua, please visit: www.saintanthonyofpadua.net Or call Tom Muscatello, North America Representative, at 914.263.8841

Only two (2) specific date requests will be taken for any one family. You may request 1 weekend Mass (Saturday Vigil or Sunday) intention and 1 weekly Mass intention or 2 weekday Mass Intentions. More than two (2) requests will be sent out of the Parish to be fulfilled or celebrated by our Priests as part of concelebrated Mass. You will not be notified of silent intention dates. To accommodate your requests please list an alternate date in the event that your first request is not met. IF no dates are specified, they will be chosen at random and CANNOT be changed. Masses are no longer held in Clairvaux Hall except on Christmas and Easter.

Suggested Mass Stipends are $10.00 each and your check should accompany your request. Make check payable to the parish in which your Mass is to be scheduled.

STB MASS TIMES: Weekdays at 7:00 a.m. Weekend Saturday anticipated Mass at 5:00 p.m., Sunday 7:00, 9:00, 11:00 a.m. & 7:30 p.m. OLG MASS TIMES: Weekdays at 9:00 a.m. Weekend Saturday anticipated Mass at 4:00 p.m., Sunday 9:30 & 11:30 a.m.

Please be sure to add your phone number and e-mail address on the form and include phonetic spelling of hard to pronounce last names.

Please keep in mind that it is mandated by Canon Law to offer a Mass for the people on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation. The following days are NOT OPEN for individual intentions since they are offered for the intentions of parishioners. Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. On civic holidays there will be only ONE mass celebrated and that will be at 9:00 a.m. Once scheduled, Mass intentions cannot be changed.

We would like to remind our parishioners who are attending a Mass requested for one of your loved ones on a Sunday or Holy Day that the members of the family are asked to carry the gifts to the altar. Please inform an usher that you will be carrying the gifts to the altar but if you are unable to do so, please advise the usher so that a replacement can be found for you. This is an opportunity to serve God, as well as honoring your family, so please be generous if you are asked to carry the gifts. Please note that there may be circumstances during Sunday Mass when the person who has requested the Mass intention will not be able to carry the gifts to the altar (receiving adults into full communion of the Catholic Church or other special sacramental moments).
