VINEYARD VOICE

"Rebel Rebel" is from the Quinta Del Mar Vineyard located just outside of Nipomo on the Southern tip of San Luis Obispo County. The grapes were harvested in the last nights of August and brought to the winery in the cool early morning hours. Quinta del Mar is planted exclusively to Pinot Nair, split evenly between the 115 and 777 "Dijon" clones. The 2015 “Rebel Rebel” is made up of a blend using both the 115 (75%) and 777( 25%) clones.

The grapes were fermented in open-top fermenters and held for 28 days including extended maceration. 10% whole cluster fruit was employed. Gently pressed directly to barrel, the wine aged in French oak for 22 months. 10 percent new barrels were used.

ON THE PALATE

"Rebel Rebel" is a forward-style pinot noir that opens with notes of fresh raspberries and black berries that are tempered by black tea, orange rind and rosemary.

ARTIST NOTES

Inspired by the colorful and eccentric personal style of , the artwork for "Rebel Rebel" blends together an abstract representation of the fermentation process in winemaking with the ambiguous, dreamlike spirit of Bowie's persona.
