TONIGHT'S GAME The Capitals take on the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena on Tuesday in the second and final meeting between the teams this season. The Capitals are 13-11-1-2 all-time against the Predators.

NOTE OF THE NIGHT 700 Club - T.J. Oshie is expected to play in his 700th career game tonight. He'll become the seventh forward from his draft class to reach the 700 games mark. Oshie has four points (2g, 2a) in his last four games. On Jan. 8, Oshie recorded his 200th career goal in the Capitals' 5-3 win over the Philadelphia Flyers. Only 51 players have reached the 200 goal milestone since 2008-09, when Oshie made his NHL debut. Since joining the Capitals in 2015-16, Oshie has recorded 90 goals in 256 games to rank second on the Capitals (Alex Ovechkin: 165) and his 17.0 shooting percentage ranks fourth in the NHL among players with at least 200 games played. Oshie’s 13 goals this season are tied for third on the Capitals and his 51.36 on-ice shot attempt percentage (454 shot attempts for and 430 against) at five-on-five rank first among Capitals forwards. Oshie is 17 points shy of 500 career points.

TOP FIVE CAPS FACTS Great 8 - Alex Ovechkin leads the NHL with 33 goals this season as he aims to break a tie with Hull for the most seasons as the NHL’s goal-scoring leader. Both have led the League in goals on seven occasions. Ovechkin's most recent goal, scored on Monday against the St. Louis Blues, was scored on the power play, his 238th career power play goal. Ovechkin passed Brendan Shanahan (237) for fifth place on the all-time power play goals list. Ovechkin is now one goal shy of passing Dave Andreychuk (640) for 14th place on the NHL's all-time scoring list. Among the top 20 goal scorers all-time, Ovechkin's 0.61 goals per game ranks second (Mario Lemieux: 0.75 goals per game). Ovechkin, who is already the all-time goal scorer among Russian-born players, is now seven points away from passing Sergei Fedorov (483g, 696a in 1,248 games) to become the highest scoring Russian-born player all-time. Thomas Vanek (Austria), Frans Nielsen (Denmark), Antoine Roussel (France), Mats Zuccarello (Norway) and Anze Kopitar (Slovenia) are the only active players to lead their respective countries in points.

Mr. 1,000 - Brooks Orpik played in his 1,000th career NHL game against the St. Louis Blues on Monday. Orpik became the 330th all- time player, 114th defenseman and 22nd active player to play in 1,000 NHL games. This season, Orpik has recorded three points (2g, 1a) in 18 games. Orpik leads Capitals defensemen in hits per game (2.9) and shorthanded time on ice per game (3:13). Since joining Washington at the start of the 2014-15 season, Orpik ranks first in hits (883) and second in blocked shots (614) among Capitals defensemen. Orpik was selected by Pittsburgh in the first round, 18th overall, in the 2000 NHL Draft, and became the seventh player from his draft class to appear in 1,000 regular-season games. The San Francisco native has registered 132 points (13g, 119a) in 703 career games with Pittsburgh and 56 points (4g, 52a) in 297 career games with Washington. At 38 years and 110 days old, Orpik became the 14th oldest player to play in his 1,000th career game. Since making his NHL debut on Dec. 10, 2002, Orpik ranks first among defensemen in hits (3,070) and second in blocked shots (1,856). Orpik’s hit total ranks third among players with 1,000 career games (Zdeno Chara: 3,675; Dustin Brown: 3,295) since 1997-98.

Holtbeast - Since Nov. 4, Holtby has stopped 494 of the 526 shots he's faced at even strength (.939 save percentage), the highest save percentage among all goaltenders with at least 13 games played during that time frame. Holtby is now eight games shy of 400 career games to become the second goaltender in franchise history to reach the mark (Olie Kolzig: 711 games). Since entering the NHL in 2010, Holtby's 242 wins are the fifth most in the NHL, despite being the only goaltender ranked in the top 15 with fewer than 400 games played. Since 2010, Holtby ranks 19th in games played, however, he is the only goaltender in the top 27 goaltenders in games played with fewer than 100 losses (242-99-37).

That'a Boyd – Through 26 games this season, Travis Boyd has 13 points (4g, 9a). Among Capitals players with at least 20 games played this season, Boyd leads the team in points per 60 minutes of five-on-five play (2.77), tied for first in primary assists (1.26) and second in assists (1.76). Additionally, Boyd's 2.77 points per 60 minutes at five-on-five rank 20th in the NHL among players with at least 20 games played. Of Boyd's seven assists at five-on-five, five have been primary helpers, tied for the seventh most on the Capitals.

Thrashing Nashville – Alex Ovechkin has earned 14 points (10g, 14a) in 18 career games against the Predators. Nicklas Backstrom has earned 18 points (4g, 14a) in 18 career games against the Predators and has tallied an assist in three straight games. In addition, he has tallied four multi-point games in his career against Nashville. Braden Holtby has posted a 7-1-0 record in his career against St. Louis with a 2.36 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage.

Additional Capitals Notes Road Warriors - In the Capitals' last 41 away games, dating back to Jan. 18, 2018, Washington holds a 25-13-3 record. That's the third-most points (53) during that time frame, and two more points than the Capitals have in their last 41 home games (23-13-5). During that span, the Capitals' 139 goals for rank fifth in the NHL. Since Jan. 18, 2018, Alex Ovechkin's 28 goals rank second in the NHL (Winnipeg's Patrik Laine: 29).

Dmitry ScOrlov - Dmitry Orlov recorded a power play assist on Alex Ovechkin's goal against the St. Louis Blues on Monday. That marked Orlov's first power play point of the season. Kuznetsov’s 0.74 assists per game this season (29 assists in 39 games) ranks third on the team. Among active players with at least 300 games played, Kuznetsov’s career 0.56 assists per game rate is tied for 14th, and his 2.03 assists per 60 minutes of play are tied for sixth. The Capitals are one of only two teams in the NHL with two active players that average over two assists per 60 minutes of play (Backstrom: 2.20; Pittsburgh’s and : 2.22 and 2.11, respectively) with at least 300 games of NHL experience.

Willy’s World – Tom Wilson has three points (2g, 1a) in his last five games. Wilson is two goals shy of passing his career high of 14 goals set last season - one less than his career high of 15 in 53 fewer games. This season, Wilson has scored 11 of his 13 goals at five on five. Averaging 14:16 at even strength this season, Wilson's 1.62 goals per 60 minutes of play rank as the eighth highest rate in the NHL among players with at least 300 minutes of even strength ice time (Nashville's Viktor Arvidsson: 2.25; Buffalo's : 1.99; Alex Ovechkin: 1.93; Toronto's : 1.90; Calgary's : 1.74; Vancouver's Elias Pettersson: 1.69; Nashville's Filip Forsberg: 1.68).
