Neneh Cherry will receive $61000 from Per Ganneviks foundation for cultural purposes for her achievements in the arts. The scholarship was awarded during a ceremony at the Kulturhuset City Theatre in on Monday evening. It is the fourth year that Per Ganneviks foundation for cultural purposes awards five scholarships, according to the donor's will, to support artists who can be expected to be of great importance for the cultural heritage.

Scholarship Motivation She is a living icon who always remained in the artistic forefront. She has constantly continued to develop musically and explore different expressions in a unique way. She is one of Sweden's greatest artists of the modern era, with an influence on contemporary pop culture that has no equivalent.

Per Ganneviks foundation for cultural purposes 2012 donated financier and art lover Per Gannevik about 60 million to the Arts. In accordance with the terms Testament was formed when Per Ganneviks foundation for cultural purposes. The Foundation's purpose is to support contemporary artists who can be expected to be of importance to cultural heritage. The fellows will be sought in the five areas of art which usually supports the Arts - art and design, music, theater, dance and film. The Foundation Board is in accordance with the statutes the same as the Swedish Arts Grants Committee's board.

About Neneh Cherry Neneh Cherry was born in 1964 in Stockholm. She grew up in Skåne, but dropped out of school in Hässleholm and at the age of fourteen she moved to to devote her life to music. She has lived in several other countries, but the London is her current place of residence.

Neneh Cherry came to the English music scene in the late punk era and was in several bands. After the punk period she moved on to rap music. Her solo career began in 1982 with the Stop the War, a about the Falklands War. The single released reached a high position on the UK singles chart in 1988, it also reached the top of various US lists and became a worldwide hit. Other known Neneh Cherry Songs are Manchild (1989) and Woman (1996) and 7 Seconds (1994, together with Youssou N'Dour)

Neneh cherrry has released four solo : (1989), Homebrew (1992), Man (1996) and Space Project (2014), which was released after a long break under in her own name. Through her long career, she has also collaborated with numerous other artists and of multiple genres. Records released in other formats, for example, with Laylow (2006) and Medicine (2009), with the Circus and (2012) with the group The Thing.

Previous awards and honors in the selection: Brit Award for Best International Artist 1990, MTV Europe Music Award for best song (7 Seconds) in 1994 and a Grammy Award for 2013. This year's jazz Neneh Cherry was elected to the Swedish Music Hall of Fame in 2015.
