avid Lauck, Head Coach of the Roncalli 2011 3A State Champion Softball Team, D was named the new Assistant Athletic Director. He assumes this important athletic department role upon the retirement of long-time athletic administrator, Angie Toner. A 1994 Roncalli graduate, David was an outstanding member of the Rebels football and baseball programs, earning first team All-State honors in baseball in 1994. He has earned both his BA and MS degrees in education and educational leadership from the University of Indianapolis. David has been a valuable teacher at Roncalli since 2004 in the special needs, S.T.A.R.S. department. David’s leadership of the Roncalli softball program over the past three years has resulted in three consecutive Sectional championships, two consecutive Regional championships, a school record 28 season victories and 2011’s 3A State Championship. Roncalli Principal Chuck Weisenbach comments, “We are grateful to Angie Toner for 23 years of outstanding service as our Assistant Athletic Director and very excited to welcome David Lauck into that role. David already in his young career has established a proven track of strong leadership, great initiative, and for setting the bar high in all facets of his work. He will do a dynamite job in his new role and we are fortunate to have him." “Angie Toner has been a wonderful mentor for the past eight years. Clearly, I've got some big shoes to fill, but I am very eager for this transition to a leadership role in the Roncalli Athletic Department. RONCALLI • SACRED HEART CENTRAL • CHARTRAND • KENNEDY MEMORIAL 14 Myers to FBI Youth Conference ophomore Thomas Myers was selected to attend the 2012 S FBI National Academy Youth Leadership Conference in Quantico, VA scheduled for June 20-28, 2012. There is only one representative selected from the state of Indiana - quite an honor for Thomas and Roncalli. Myers will participate in an eight-day leadership series and physical fitness regimen which includes a 4.25 mile “Yellow Brick Road” obstacle course. The FBI National Academy Associates, Inc. (FBINAA) hosts this week-long training event for high school students at the FBI Academy every summer. To be selected, a student must have demonstrated high academic standards and good citizenship, and they must be nominated by an FBINA graduate in good standing. Chapter representatives interview the candidates and select their choice to attend the program. The candidates’ qualifications are reviewed by the Executive Office and the YLP Coordinator, who make the final selection. While the program is not offered exclusively for those choosing a career in law enforcement, interested candidates should possess a desire to gain knowledge in the American system of criminal justice, including police organization, leadership and the structure and operation of criminal courts. Participants will also be expected to share the knowledge gained with their peers following completion of the program. (http://www.fbinaa.org)

Bob Tully T Hon'93 is in his 50th year at Roncalli. He has stepped out of full-time teaching and coaching and has become very active in promoting our Catholic identity to our pastors, youth ministers, faculty and students as Campus Minister and as a part of the Campus Ministry Team. His job description on paper only tells part of the story. Bob's many years of experience in many different roles at Roncalli make him a vibrant and engaging spokesperson for Roncalli’s mission in the broader community. Dave Gervasio R'85 has served as Roncalli’s Business Manager for over twenty years now and performed excellently. He is a national convention presenter and an adjunct consultant for Catholic schools in the Indianapolis Archdiocese and throughout the country. Inviting Art

he Greater Greenwood Arts Council invited students from Roncalli to T participate in the 2012 Art Showcase along with students from Center Grove, Perry Meridian and Whiteland High Schools. All 10 of the Roncalli entries were accepted and were on display at the Greenwood Public Library through May 21. Three Roncalli students were honored for their work. Anna Bowers received the First Place Best of Show Award. Haley Craig was the third place winner, and Tiffany Merkel received honorable mention. Other students whom had works on display included Abby Scifres, Taylor Wong, Rachel Law, Tyler Neal and Emma Houston.

Artwork from all the art classes were on display, and some students were available to discuss their work. Following the art show that evening, the band performed along with having the annual Ice Cream Social for guests. The evening featured music from the Concert Band, Jazz Band and other musical ensembles. The following evening, the Choral Program took the stage with the Pops Concert with outstanding performances from all choral ensembles.

he Marion County girls’ tennis title came down to the match between T the Lady Rebels’ number-two singles player, Lauren Webb, versus Kate Tomey, her opposite number at Brebeuf Jesuit. The competition was tied at 2-2, after Roncalli’s Macey Speer won the number-one singles match 6-3, 6-1, and her teammate, Alex Servie, won the number -three singles match 6-1, 6-1. Brebeuf earned their two points by winning both doubles matches, setting up the decisive match between Webb and Tomey. They battled for three hours, with Webb battling back on multiple occasions. After Tomey won the first set 6-3, and led 5-1, in the Lauren Webb played a key role in Roncalli's first Girls' second set, Webb won six of the next seven Tennis Marion County title. games, including a 7-3 win in the tiebreaker, to

Such was the task facing the Lady Rebels’ softball team after winning last season’s Class 3A state title. A young team, with more freshmen and sophomores on the roster than juniors and seniors, came of age in the state tournament and grabbed Class 4A sectional and regional championships in the process. According to head coach David Lauck, a key development during the season was the younger and older groups growing together. “By the end of the season, we were playing with much more energy and confidence,” said Freshman Maddie Mulinaro Coach Lauck.
